I just started collecting factory sealed japanese dreamcast games. However, I am not sure whether I should continue because I am starting to be concerned about their resale value. I don't want to buy an expensive collection from yahoo japan auctions and then not be able to sell for any money on ebay later on.

Does anyone know if they have any resale value on ebay?

Thanks!

Just depends on their rarity.. some do and some don't. Especially if they were never released stateside. I've been looking for an NTSC-J copy of Frame Gride for awhile now. As far as I know it was only released in Japan. It rarely shows up on evilBay and when it does.. usually goes for $20 to $30.. more than I'M willing to pay.

On the other hand PAL copies of Evil Twin (Never released stateside as well, not a JAP game.. but I'm using it as an example) are all over on eBay.. so they go for cheap.

There's a boot CD made by an old DC release group years back that will let you play PAL games on your domestic DC..but I've never tried it on an NTSC-J game.

if you are just looking to buy something for the potential profit there are probably better investments than Japanese DC games.

I have to agree with the above poster. I don't really even sell DC games since there's little to no profit in them. That's not to say that you can't make money, but for the same time, effort, and investment, I'm sure you'll make more with something else.

DC games are still available in some stores here in Japan new and sealed, so it's not like they're really even out-of-print yet.

Eric
