I recently picked up Tetris DS for $19, and I've had Mario Kart since Christmas. I would like to play these games online, and I do occasionally, but why the heck is the interface so darn clunky. I thought Nintendo wanted a user friendly service, but it does so many stupid things its unbelievable. The automatic matchmaking takes around 10 minutes to find a game in Tetris. Did they just hire some high school dropouts to do this manually, or what? If you're about to enter a game and somebody drops out, it cant handle it, and sends you back to the menu screen. The excuse that its a "free service" doesn't hold up. I can think of many, many games with free online play that have a better interface than this. I hope they work this stuff out before their console hits this fall.

Ummm..what? I play Tetris DS every night and have never had any of the problems you just described. The longest I've ever had to wait for a challenger is about a minute.

That's strange. Maybe its my internet connection, but I can play other games online fine, even more bandwidth intensive ones like Halo.
So what exactly are you complaining about? The Wifi service has vastly improved over the half year it's been around. When it first started up, I remember constantly getting dropped and having to retry several times until I actually got a game going.
Now it's not that bad at all and I've been connecting faster, as well as getting dropped less. For a company that's never really dealt with online gaming, I think they're doing a damn good job with it.
edit: There also could be a problem with the wifi server. It also might depend on the time of day, I've ran into the most problems late at night.

I've had problems from time to time, but for Tetris it's been pretty reliable. I connect mostly @ coffee shops. And Mario Kart has been ruined by droppers and snakers worse than PSO was ruined by dupers and PKers in the DC days.
