Off to classic gaming...a WTB in buying and selling wouldn't be a terrible idea either, if you're serious.

Try posting a WTB over on ASSEMblergames too, I'm sure someone over there can get you one, no problem.

You won't get a deal on it though, you won't get reamed either, but you'll pay whatever the going rate is for a nice boxed unit.

Out of interest, what version of the NeoCD are you after; front loader, top loader or the CDZ?

I don't know how much you were looking to spend, but Japan Games Now (http://www.japangamesnow.com/product_info.php?cPath=100&products_id=6) has a nice looking boxed system for sale.

Sweet Jesus that's overpriced! That's high for a CD-Z! If you want to spend $250 for a front loader and KOF 94, send me $250 and i'll give you a few more games, too... Seriously, a boxed front loader should be south of $100. I saw a loose one for under $30 the other day.

Heh, I can't argue with you there. I just thought I'd post it because it was a nice looking bundle from a decent seller.

As for where he could a cheaper system, I don't know, have you looked at the Neo-Geo Store or forum for systems?

Funny, after my last post I got to wondering where he could buy one -- first thought was neo-geo.com, second was neogeocd.com. They both seem to be out of them.

But I think if you're patient one will pop up for a reasonable price! Don't discount Yahoo! Japan, also. Can use a proxy service and get one at a good price (though shipping is bad from Japan). Look at this top loader (http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b67117429), or this loose top loader (http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h40695735). Deals can be found :)

The front loader is the most expensive system - a boxed mint one will go for $200 to $300.

The CDZ is worth around $150.

As the the regular top loader I would not spend more than $100 for a boxed one and about $50 for a lose one.

PS: next time you see a front loader boxed or unboxed for $30 let me know because I'll give you an extra $30 for the tip.

Eh, maybe I'll see if it's there still today. I'll be in that store again. Sure I can find one south of $100. Hardware prices for NGCD seem to be really low these days.

I'll report back later :) I like a good quest.

Went back and checked -- I was wrong. Wasn't $30 -- bought it for $20. :D Works like a champ, too...

I'll try to post a pic. It's loose, has a few scratches (not too bad, esp. for $20), and no controllers. SN#006673, so it's pretty damn old. I can't hardly believe it, but this sucker's even bigger than my huge top loader!

Just gotta dig alot, deals can be found!

Where did you get this deal - unless you live in Japan it's hard to come by.

Super Potato Seven, Nippombashi. Not exactly the bargain capital of Osaka, but every once in a while I get lucky there.

It does explain your "too good to be true" price. In Japan a boxed Front Loader is worth about Y98.000 but the average sale price in the US is closer to $200/$250 for complete boxed unit.

great machine anyway, it's one of the 3 consoles I cannot/do not want to part with along my Virtual Boy and my PC/FX

Everything else will be on sale soon to pay for a much needed vehicle.

Super Potato kicks ass.... I should make a trip up there sometime this summer.

The boxed front loaders have some wild prices, probably based on market conditions at that time and the condition of the system overall. They have a lot of pieces to them such as the controller boxe, the bubble wrap, etc., so depending on how complete it is you'll see some price variations.

I actually have a really nice box and stuffing that I'm looking to get a console for. The one I bought wasn't working...lovely Yahoo Japan... I bought a second one at a local store that I had to return since that one wasn't working. They don't seem to be as reliable as the top loaders. Older systems and more moving parts....

Right now the CDZ is the best value. No one seems to want them and prices have dropped about 30% to 40%. I've sold a couple of top loaders for $99 and two brand new top loaders for $181 and $252.

Eventyually the prices go up...then down...then up...then down...

laters,
Eric
