A memeber here was looking for a copy, and of coarse would like the US version, I have - what I thought was the US copy - untill we started looking into it some more; and now we both have doubts about the game in question :P

I don't mind selling it because this person is looking to complete their collection, how-ever, if I own the Euro version then I don't want to sell it because that means I paid too much (and don't want to charge that price) but if its the US version then I will charge what I paid and everyone is happy :D

So, onto the problem. From what I understand; *we* did not really get a release of the Sonic game over here, it was just the Euro copy with a new UPC sticker placed over the Euro UPC printed on the insert.

But, as you can see in these pics, there is a new UPC sticker over the insert, and as I look closer it is the same number under the "Bonus" sticker (weird :/ )

the whole package (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Logicdustbin/IMG_4696.jpg)

the back of the box (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Logicdustbin/IMG_4698.jpg)

close up of the sticker (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Logicdustbin/img_4702.jpg)

The Sega sticker reads: 4974365634766 and under the odd 'Bonus' sticker it reads the same.

I personally think its the Euro version, as I checked my copy of Spider-man, (which I believe was released in the same maner as Sonic) and the numbers are different:

So, what do the experts think?

Actually, that's an Australian copy - the sticker was added by Sega Ozisoft to games they distributed over there (the Fxxxxxxx code on the sticker above the barcode is the Ozisoft part number).

The (stickered) UPC code on genuine "US copies" is 010086070767.

neat!

So, it would hold the same value as the Euro version? - not that I care, I like the game - but for a collector....

Yeah, not really worth any different to the Euro version. Both very common ;)

Even without looking at the UPC sticker, it is easy to tell this is the Euro version simply by the manual, as official US manuals are in portrait format, not landscape format. Also, is the manual printed in more than just one language - English??

That's not true. The last 3 U.S. SMS realases were just Euro versions with U.S. UPC labels.

Not the case, the American version still had Euro instructions

If that's the case, then I have yet to own one in my collection.
