I thought the PS2 had a lot more 2D fighters then that but I checked and in the US that is all of them.

nice collection. the Japanese 2D fighter collection would be alot cooler in my opinion.

This is 'technically' incomplete. You forgot:

Capcom Classic Collection
-Street Fighter II
-Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
-Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting

Midway Arcade Treasures 2
-Mortal Kombat II
-Mortal Kombat 3

Agreed. A "complete" US 2D fighter collection is similar to only having the first 5 chapters of a book. Time to start importing.

i went through that in my head and i really dont count those collections as part of the set due to them being collections of other games instead. i went for purely fighters

If you're going that route, you should add Mega Man Anniversary Collection to it as well since it has the two Mega Man Arcade games on it (which were 2D fighters).

Understandable. That is why I used the term 'technically' :)

I wouldn't classify Power Battles as a fighting game. It's just like a boss fight in Mega Man, nothing more, nothing less.

true i didnt notice that little piece of text in there hehe. really its also an excuse not to own mortal kombat games. its one series i hate when it comes to fighters LOL

Good job. I enjoy 2-D fighters so I should check into a lot of these. I think the best selection of 2-D fighters belongs to the SNES. The Dreamcast hd some pretty good ones too. But sadly I don't own many of them I should really get around to getting more.

i wish i could agree with you on the snes. i think the genesis trumps it especially with the 6 button controller and its respective d-pad. the dreamcast is high up there by default just because of Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves alone heheh

IMO, PS2 is king of fighters. Counting worldwide releases that is.

Arcade perfect Street Fighters. Pretty much every KOF game. Tekken 5, VF4 EVO, all the great games that other systems had and more...

And what's even better, an arcade perfect port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo coming out soon with Capcom Classics Collection 2. There has never been a perfect port of this title until now.

PS2 wins. :)

Controls are but mere preference.

Arcade perfect Street Fighters.

Hmmm....I beg to differ on that. They're close to perfect...hell, I'd even say they're 99% of perfection. But there's little details and such missing.

For an example, see my brief write-up of Alpha 2 Gold from the Alpha Anthology here (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79202).

Blurry graphics and squishy elongated character sprites on the PS2 Street Fighter games. If you have the means, do a comparison at home with the other releases of the game. I did with Alpha 2 Gold (Saturn vs PS2) and Alpha 3 (Saturn vs DC vs PS2).

Alpha 2 Gold?

You know Alpha 2 Gold that was released in the SF Collections on both PS1 and Saturn were in no way close to arcade perfect. In fact the rare Arcade version of Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha(Which is Alpha 2 Gold as it was released in Japan and Brazil in arcades) is the one that is ported onto Alpha Anthology on the PS2.

I'm talking about arcade perfect, as in, the games that actually came out in the arcade, and the gameplay(combos, moves, frames, technical stuff etc. Not fuzzy graphics etc.) Not the version that was released on the PlayStation and Saturn lol. That's what I meant by ARCADE perfect. Sorry if the term confused you.

Why is it everyone tends to poo on people here. The guy said every US 2D game for PS2 yeah maybe capcom collection would count maybe not. Valid point, Who cares if its only a couple games compared to the vast amount of Japanese ones, the guy is happy let him be happy, why bring up these other things.

I have to admit I was surprised there wasn't more games but that definitely looks cool!

(And don't listen to anyone who says 'technically' anything. Your collection is *yours* - if somebody else wouldn't be happy with it that's their lookout :) ).

I am thinking maybe I have a complete PAL 2d fighter
collection but am unable to locate a list,
anybody have any idea where I could locate one.

Also it would be interesting to see what extra 2d games we got
eg.
Snk vs Capcom
Guilty Gear X2 Reload

Nice. 2-D fighting games are excellent, way better than 3-D fighters, IMO. Guilty Gear is pretty damn fun, too. But I'm always gonna be a Street Fighter fan for life.

Wow. Only 10 of them. I hadn't realised there were so few. I have KoF 02/03 and CvS 2. I'd like ot get a hold of MvC 2 & SF Anniv. I recently finished getting all 4 of the SF2 controllers for PS2. I love 'em.

gratz on the controllers.

its a shame theres only 10 2d fighters for the ps2 but i can keep up easily if any get released in the future. I plan on slowly getting all the 2d fighters for ps1 and dc now.
