Leaving feedback is, for the most part, a waste of time. If someone already has hundreds of positive feedbacks, do they really need any more?

In theory, with that mentality, those people would have never gotten to 100's because it's a waste of time.

Well for what its worth I hate sellers who withhold feedback for retaliation purposes. This only seems to happen after they have lied/misrepresented an item for some reason... :roll:
Anyways I got a small list of scumbag sellers im waiting on 89 days and some odd hours for some payback.

I don't get the logic behind expecting feedback for paying for the item you won. When I sell items, I generally leave feedback after receiving. Personally, I don't see a need to praise someone for completing their end of a contract. When I but items, I always leave feedback when I receive the merchandise regardless of what the seller has done to that point and have never sent an email requesting feedback (though I get them all the time from buyers). When you are buying from someone, does the fact that they pay for their winnings have anything to do with their ability to accurately describe or ship an item?

I hate when people get real bugged about peeps not leaving feedback. I leave feedback when i remember to but alot of times i forget or and too busy. Plus not many people care a whole lot about feedback unless it is bad.

You dont get the logic? Maybe you need to lay off the pipe and check back into reality. Obviously you have no clue to how ebay works, as there are probably 10 to 1 buyers to sellers. If there was no point in leaving feedback to buyers how would sellers know what to expect from a bidder?
Personally, I don't see a need to praise someone for completing their end of a contract.
Seriously if thats the way you think whats your ebay seller name so I will know to avoid.

Exactly so. I have always been a buyer on eBay, never a seller. People that I'm buying from can look at my feedback and see that I always pay for my auctions and pay rapidly at that. They can tell that they won't have to get on my case about not paying for an item and if there's some problem with payment, that I'm willing to work things out.

@sylentwulf-I think we're working on about the same percentage. I've left 2158 and received 1521. I always leave feedback when buying or selling unless there is some sort of a problem and then I decide what is appropriate.

The thing is guys, it's VERY VERY easy to leave feedback. Click on "my ebay" Click on "feedback" then click on the leave all feedback for the past 90 days, cut and paste the same phrase over and over again, and you have now loeft feedback for all ebay business you've done in the past THREE MONTHS.
AND YES, it DOES make a big deal if you don't leave feedback. If someone is being a jerk or is pissed, they will leave negative feedback 100% of the time, If you LAZY FUCKS don't leave positive feedback to balance it out, then people feedback ends up looking HORRIBLE.
It can ALSO affect powerseller status, since I have to keep over a 98% (99%?) positive feedback ratio, EVERY SINGLE feedback helps.
Luckily, I have sellers assitant on ebay now, which tells me if I've left feedback, if I've received feedback, and I can harass the buyer with a click of the button until they DO leave me feedback :devilish:

I'M MISSING 5,000 FEEDBACK that are all positive, that would almost double my feedback. Yeah, I consider that a big difference.

My track record is pretty decent. I've left 104 feedbacks and received 102 (100 of them from unique users as is listed). Okay so my first received and given feedbacks don't count since Michael and I gave them to each other when we first started going out, heh. ;)
But feedback is important as both a buyer and seller. As soon as I receive that item in the mail, you better believe I'm going to try to make sure the seller gets his or her positive feedback. I forget sometimes, but I always go back and check and outstanding feedback I haven't sent yet. Very simple and courteous. Just like if you find a great little mom and pop shop or major store with great exceptional service, not only am I going to buy from them again, but I am going to spread the word to others I know. Feedback acts as that word of mouth.

I've been active on eBay since 11/96, so yeah, I sure as heel know how it works. All I'm saying is positive feedback for paying for merchandise you order is not something that determines if an individual is on the up & up when selling an item. I don't give a rats ass what someones feedback is that is buying from me. I'm not going to run around cancelling bids because of a bad track record, when I don't get paid the item gets relisted. I get orders place through my store all the time that we never receive payment for but I don't blacklist those customers from placing future orders.

From what I understand you are a well respected individual on the DP boards, but I must voice my disagreement with this attitude. It's that sort of mentality that leads to retaliation feedback. Someone buys something on ebay, contacts the seller, provides an address and payment, that's their end of the contract, as specified by Ebay.

From what I understand you are a well respected individual on the DP boards, but I must voice my disagreement with this attitude. It's that sort of mentality that leads to retaliation feedback. Someone buys something on ebay, contacts the seller, provides an address and payment, that's their end of the contract, as specified by Ebay.
All I'm saying is it doesn't really require a pat on the back for making a payment. I leave feedback for buyers all the time and would say close to half of my feedback left is for buyers. My whole disagreement here is with buyers that feel they are owed parise for making payment.

I don't have the amount of transaction that someone like Syletwulf does but I think my feedback ratio is pretty good.

I'll always leave feedback for others. As said earlier in the message it's very easy to do. I usually tend to leave my feedback in bunches like every other week rather than doing it daily but what annoys me though are the people who are absolutely rabid about their feedback and email me every other day until I leave it for them. It almost makes me want to give 'em a neutral or something but I stop short because it wouldn't be fair since the transaction went through cleanly.

To prove it, look at the negative and neutrals they've received. EVERY time their feedback to the buyer will be negative or neutral.

I check every time I buy something and if the seller does this I WILL NOT BUY FROM THEM !!!!!!!!! This is bull crap and shouldn't be tolerated. Like it has been said, when a person pays according to E-Bay that is the end of their contract, They deserve and have earned Positive feedback. NUFF SAID !!!!!!!

I personally do not agree with any of that. I have never left retaliation feedback and don't withold leaving feedback so that I can. I just feel that when a person receives an item and are satisfied with the purchase that that is the time feedback should be exchanged. I only started that a little over a year ago after always leaving feedback for buyers as soon as payment was received and saw about 50% return feedback. Since I started leaving it after knowing the purchaser was happy I have yet to have anyone email begging for feedback.
I just don't go along with paying for something you ordered being something that requires praise. I am not saying that I don't leave it, just that it is not something that should be expected before leaving it for the seller.

But I have looked at hundreds of sellers who say in their auctions that they only give feedback after feedback is given, and as stated above that was the case.
I personally have given 1405 and only gotten 919 back.
I was thinking about saying feedback will be given when it is given to me , I'm debating it. The only thing stopping me is that E-Bay stipulates that paying on time completes their contract. Of course my part is giving them their item in the condition described. Nothing is stated about feedback either way. So thus my predicament............................... :D

I agree that wording some sellers use in their "personal" feedback policy leaves a lot to be desired. I don't state it in auctions or in any contact with buyers and don't care for sellers that do. Personally, I could care less about a sellers feedback policy as I'm more concerned with the bs "handling" fees. If I can run a business and auctions charging exact shipping and having to endure credit card processing fees and the like, some jack off selling out of his closet should be able to do the same. ;)

My expectation is that the seller should leave feedback FIRST after receiving payment, considering the buyer has just completed his/her end of the bargain and sent the payment in advance of receiving the item, which in my eyes is definitely a reason to praise someone.
