I am not sure if this is the right place to post this thread nor if is appropriate. I apologize if it isn't.

I always wonder how much money people have invested or are willing to invest in their collection because I seem to be spending too much to try to go for a complete set for some systems.

I have already spent more than $10000. I really should stop... =)

About, to my best estimates, around $1500-2000 NZ.

Smallish, in a relative sense.

I've invested about $75,000 in my collection. About 1500 games and 13 systems. And that's not counting PC games.

Probably about $20,000 in 1300 unique, non-sports games and/on 25 systems.

I've invested under 4 grand. Most of that went to PS2, PSP, MVS and DS. The PS2 alone was $550 +shipping. (launch Christmas on ebay)

I've insured my collection for £50,000... but I've probably spent more like £70,000 on the lot from 1983 to present day.

47 working unique systems (plus dupes for spares), peripherals and at least 10,000 games covering all systems.

I would have to say about $3500, give or take a few hundred dollars. I'm more into the bargain hunting than buying new stuff, just something about the thrill of finding any particular item of interest.

Huh. I think I might have spent $800. I dunno. I started with some seed money from a side job I had for a while. It was a couple hundred bucks. Since then, I thrift, look for bargains, and try to trade up. I haven't spent tons of money like some other, people, but I've stayed pretty focused on only collecting boxed SNES and N64 games. I probably have spent thousands of dollars, but it was all grown from that initial $800. At this point, my gaming pays for itself. I even have a seperate "hobby" checking account, just to keep track of the $$. I'm amazed at how much some of you have spent.

According to IGN, about 10,000 dollars US.

Probably between $20,000. and $30,000. Kiosks, new Neo Geo carts and limited edition/dev systems add up pretty quickly.

After everything is tallied up, I'm only $500 or so in the hole from games. I figure I've probably spent at least $6000 - $7000 on games for myself, but I've sold the majority of them, and the rest of it I've made back by buying/re-selling old games on eBay. The only things I have right now are a 360, GC, and PS2 slim, along with about 30 games. Oh, and a Dreamcast and around 200 games, but those are all going on eBay. :P

Im about .. $2500 USD in for my Castlevania collection. I have no clue how high the number would be for all of it. Probably near 5 grand.

IGN says $40000. I say $20000.

blissfulnoise

IGN would say close to $100,000, or more, if I kept it updated. I'd say $40,000 if you factor in the stuff I've had since childhood and their respective original prices.

I don't collect. I'm a player-- the game matters not the box it came in. I could care less whether I have the original sealed artwork, or just a ROM on a CD.

But even with just PS1/2 games my collection probably totals

$3000

I would say a *LOT* of $$$(USD, AUD and Pounds Sterling). However, it is our hobby so who cares? We are not hurting anyone and it's not like drugs. Enjoy your hobby - responsibly of course :D

It's all worth $300.

Does anyone know Adol? The guy who has a complete collection of sealed japanese dreamcast games and many other complete sets. I am also going to a complete set of sealed games. From my estimates and projection of money needed to be spent, I think he must have spent around 100,000 Euro or 120,000 USD...

I dunno.....I'm going to say around $7,000. I used to get the majority of my stuff free or at cost, so the number is conservative. I don't keep my "common" modern stuff either. I'll hop onto a console, play and "collect" for a year or two and then dump it all for another one when I get bored. My only non-retro console at this time is my 360. There's stuff like NES or Dreamcast that I keep. Funny enough.....I've never ever owned a SNES.

Adol has been around for a long time as a buyer abd a seller. Im pretty sure he finds good deals and sells them for much more. So take that into consideration.

As for me? Im not sure maybe around $20,000? I just broke 1,500 games recently. Im not sure though, could be around $30,000 though. I have a lot of good gems in my collection.
