i know most of us here have the collector books but does any body use the book as a checklist and write in them? I have both books and use them everyday to check the rarity level of a game but i don't write in the book to check off the games i have. I have been thinking of doing it but everytime i think about it something inside me tells me not to and keep the book in mint shape. Just wondering if anybody else does the same.

There were some dealers selling them at the Midwest Gaming Classic! Saw about a dozen of each. Sorry, but I can't remember the store that was selling them.

Shockingly enough the guides are sold here.

The Classic guide has gone out of print, though some are still available thru Joe's store (and might still be available thru Amazon as well, but don't hold me to that).

You can get the Advanced guide here (http://www.digitpress.com/dpg_plug_advance.htm)

And to answer the original posters question, yes I do write in my advanced guide, in pencil, but I do write in the guide when I feel the need. I've lugged em around a fair amount so neither are all that 'mint' anymore, but I use em more for just some quick info rather than prices and the like since they are both a bit out of date.

I also don't write in my Classic guide to keep it in mint shape, but mainly because I hardly use it for anything anymore since the online guide is more up to date on rarity and prices. For me, it's just another addition to my video game book collection :)

I keep mine in mint shape too! I usually have notes on folded pieces of papers and tucked in between a few of the pages.

What is the purpose of keeping the book mint? It's value as a collectible, except for maybe the first couple editions, is negligible. And there are A LOT of them out there. Mine is written in a lot and dog eared, and has been tossed around quite a few gatherings.

Mine are beaten up, but great resources. Not so much for prices (way, WAY unrealistically low guys) but for rarity and "should I get it" absolutely worth it.

Also spectacular just to browse and flip through, and learn more.

I wrote a few things in them but most are jokes or small commentary, and though I should utilize the checklist I have yet to do so.

When I got my Classic guide I started using it as a checklist, but soon after that I stopped and started using the printable checklists that were available. Something just didn't set right with me seeing all of those marks in the book. Plus it is easier to carry a 3-ring binder with printed lists,or a laptop for that matter, than it is to carry both guides.

I write in mine easier than making excel lists all over again. But it’s pretty hard to have an accurate price list cause in one part of the country something might be rarer to find and what not. I use it more as a list, for information, and rarity value than for prices.
