I ordered a copy of tomb raider legends for the xbox 360 from a website. They accidently sent me the PAL version of the game. I decided to pop it in my system anyways and much to my suprise it actually worked. I thought the 360 was supposed to have a region lock on it. Do you think maybe since my 360 is a launch system that there may be a bug in it that allows this to happen? or was tomb raider made with a code to bypass the lock? basically does anybody know what the deal is with this game working on my system?

Regarding the 360, and the original Xbox in fact, unlike Sony, Microsoft let each publisher decide if they wanted to region lock the games they released. Most of them did, but there are some region free games out there. I guess Tomb Raider is one of them.

OH ok then it is the code in the game itself that lets it work and not so much the machine that locks out everything. Then most likely it'll be titles that didn't see worldwide release that gets locked out, where as tomb raider was released everywhere so they figured why bother locking it type deal. I guess that makes sense. I thought i might have had a 360 with some kind of messed up region lock on it or something, which probably would have been a nice little bug that i wouldn't worry about fixing :D

If you are using High Definition, it doesn't matter anyway, as HDTV's are neither NTSC or PAL, instead they are their own format.

He's talking about whether or not his xbox360 has a lockoput mechanism built into the unit. Not if his TV could display a pal signal.
