I just picked it up for $200, it's hard to gauge what they are worth because they RARELY show up for sale. Let's just say it is more than worth the $200 to me personally. It's the only contest I ever entered from the NP mag and I was a subscriber for years. It's been on the back of my mind since the contest ended that I would one day own the controller, and now I've finally got my personal grail arriving shortly! :D

Next item I plan to track down: Boxed or loose Pikachu N64, followed by some games I've always wanted and never owned like Dr. Mario 64, Goemon's Adventure, Snowboard Kids (2 is on the way) and Stunt Racer 64 to name a few. After that, Perhaps the Funtastic line of consoles. I've got the jungle green one only, so I need quite a few more colors. After that, I'd like one of each controller. At least I've got the tougher ones out of the way, I just mainly need the Funtastic ones except jungle green and ice blue (extreme green and atomic purple really aren't "part" of the Funtastic series, but I have those), and every other color but red. Would you believe I don't even have a grey controller? lol LOL

Sounds cool. I just bought a complete Hey You Pikachu. I haven't tried to play it, but it's a neat addition to have to the collection. I recommend Snowboards and Stunt Racer....but Snowboard Kids is great fun. Both are great, but I'm personally fond of the original. The music is better in the first, but the second has a ton of more opitions.

Sounds like your N64 collection has a ton more of color than mine though!

Of course, then I could start chasing the ones that weren't released in NA, but baby steps for now. :p

Yeah I've had two Millennium controllers, sold one for $150, and the other for $200. You paid pretty much the value of it.

I need to get a copy of Banjo-Tooie again.

I got a Millennium 2000 controller about two years ago for $100, and another collector I know from a N64 forum paid about the same amount when he got his (about a year ago). If you buy them from eBay the demand is usually quite low (I was the only bidder in the auction for mine)... which is surpring considering how rare and gorgeous the controllers are:

I know I also would have happily paid a lot more!

I also own the other limited edition N64 controllers that Nintendo Power offered:

It took a good while to track each one down but I'm glad I did. :)

What amounts to one day's wages was more than worth it for something I've wanted for roughly 9 years, so I don't mind if I overpaid a little. :)

They do look beautiful in pictures, but I can't wait to see it with my own two eyes! I picked up the NP100 and DK Banana from the same guy, despite still owning (and never using) my original DK Banana from back when they offered it in NP. Does anyone remember the price on the NP100 in the catalog? Was it the same as a regular controller MSRP or higher? I seem to recall it being higher, but that may have been another item on my mind...

That controller makes my collection look so bland. I need to pick one of those up some time...

Man, it's been nearly 15 years. When I first played it, I was only 3 and it was a Atomic Purple edition N64 with Mario 64 and Zelda OOT. Then, we got Rogue Squadron and some baseball game. Then Pokemon Snap. And Shadows of the Empire and California Speed. Then the other day, it got a stimulus package: Goldeneye, F-Zero X, Castlevania, Turok Rage Wars, Top Gear Rally and Pokemon Stadium. Man, 14 years and I still have it hooked up to an HDTV to play Goldeneye.

The Nintendo 64 was one of my favorites. I had not been introduced to the Playstation till I was 12, when the Nintendo 64 came out when I was 9. I was so excited because this was the first time I had played any 3D video games. I had borrowed my uncle's system for a while and got my own a year later.

My first favorites were Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye 007 and Super Mario 64. Later I really liked the Zeldas, Donkey Kong 64, Smash Bros., Star Fox and Diddy Kong Racing a lot. I really got a lot of play out of my Nintendo 64 and a couple of controllers even had their sticks wear out on me. My system still works well and I have plenty of controllers that still work.

I don't play it as much as I used to but I'm sure if I fired it up again I'd enjoy myself. Playing on the bigscreen would make it pretty cool. I already think it looks better on there.

I have always been a fan of Hexen 64. That game was awesome, not to mention there was multiplayer co-op!

Let's not forget the best soccer game in its time was on the N64. International Superstar Soccer 98. Also, the only proper system to play NFL Blitz on was the N64.

Its only been out 12 years in the states (13 this September).

Does anyone remember the price on the NP100 in the catalog?fI've been searching for a scan of that page for two years but have never found one. If anyone can provide a scan of the NP100 controller in the catalogue I'd be really grateful.

Here's the offers that applied for the other two Nintendo Power controllers:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/th_NintendoPowerBananaBunch.jpg (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/NintendoPowerBananaBunch.jpg)http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/th_Millenium2000.jpg (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/Millenium2000.jpg)http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/th_NintendoPowerMillennium2000contest.jpg (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/alxbly/scans/NintendoPowerMillennium2000contest.jpg)

As you can see, the Banana controller was part of a subscriber offer, whilst the Millennium 2000 controller was offered to subscribers and appears to have been given away as a prize in a competition as well! But I really need to track down the issue 100 catalogue that was only available to Nintendo Power subscribers...

Yeah, I wonder how many are out there in the hands of people who truly appreciate the item, and the number of them left in mint/excellent condition. I know I'll always be on the watch for another one, as the demand does seem pretty low despite how uncommon they pop up for sale. I've seen more NWC carts exchange hands than this controller even though there is far less of them out there, heh. Give it a few more years perhaps and maybe people will catch on, but I did not buy the controller for monetary gain. :)

My buddy had that catalog, and for some reason I want to believe they also had a gold NP100 gameboy pocket in there? Might be my fuzzy memory, or perhaps something I dreamed up. Maybe someone can confirm this as well, I'd love to see the catalog again though. :p

There were watches and other stuff as well.

Good... at least my memory isn't as bad as I think. LOL

If anyone has the catalog, it would have to be someone on this board! Dig through your closet, you NP subscribers of yesteryear! :)

For what it's worth, I finally found scans of said catalog here:

Very cool. I probably haven't seen that since '97. For some reason I threw out my Power Supplies catalogs. The bigger bummer is that I still have 10+ coupons from them that I never used.

Oh crap, that's my giant Donkey Kong. I had no idea he came from that. I wonder if he was sold anywhere else too. Hah, from 100 bucks to a couple bucks at a garage sale.

Little bit of trivia for ya... the Nintendo 64 has been the only console released since 1986 that hasn't got a version of Street Fighter on it.

i know this was five years ago but uh, no

I <3 the N64, probably my favorite console of all time, definitely my favorite game library of all time, but I recognize it probably isn't objectively "the best".

With the expressed understanding that I love Nintendo, this is my absolute least favorite offering that they ever gave gamers and despite the system having some classic entries in popular franchises I have absolutely zero love for its waxy, blurry 3D models/texture renderings.

At least you can differentiate between those two concepts...most people can't (or won't).

There's no such thing as an "objective best". Anyone claiming such is just coming up with a BS reason to defend their choice of favorite system.
