Right now, I would have to say that we are in a mini-Xbox 360 game drought. The first drought was after Dead or Alive was released, and we had to wait all the way till Fight Night Round 3 and GRAW and Oblivion and Burnout Revenge hit. Now this current drought should end around mid July with the arrival of Prey and NCAA Football '07. Then in August all hell breaks loose with the big releases of Dead Rising, Madden '07 and Saint's Row.
I can't wait for Prey and NCAA to come out, those two games should be very interesting and will hold me over till Dead Rising, Madden and Saint's hits.

Well I will admit that I don't have the 360 yet but I was looking at the games avaiable and nothing really stood out to me, in that sense it sucks because I am really wanting one now.
of the titles that will be released this summer mainly NCAA 07, and Prey stands out I will be picking that one up for PC
Dead rising should be great and will probaly be around the time I do finally pick up my 360.
now I am not saying there are not good games out for the 360 but just not enough must have exclusive titles.
Though games like Graw, Oblivion, DOA 4, and PZ0 stand out for me.
I am happy though that good games are getting released this summer.

I'm holding out for November for Stranglehold before I buckle and get a 360. Any guesses how far ahead I should buy the console to avoid the holiday shortage?

Good Question, I would probaly say between October and November would be the ideal time to avoid the christmas rush

I would guess that late September would be a good time to snag one. Demand will go up rapidly, when the whole PS3 pre-order drama starts up. Remember, GameStop is supposedly starting PS3 preorders on Oct 1st. Might want to have your 360 before then, considering the people that come up short and don't have one locked might turn towards 360, and it could be in relatively short supply the whole holiday season. Then again, you might be able to get one on Black Friday with ease. Or maybe not.

There's a drought of Xbox 360's? You've got to be kidding me. Pay for the console and shipping and I will mail them, out to people. They are everywhere. Walmart, Kmart, Gamecrazy...
Are you sure you guys are actually walking out into the sunlight and seeing this shortage for yourself, because as far as I can tell, it doesn't exist. At least not for the premium package. The core systems are sold out everywhere.

Dude we don't mean 360's are hard to find, when he says drought he means of games and what new games are being released.

In a way, I'm glad for the drought. I gave up playing my 360 for the entire month of June. I wasn't paying attention to the PC or PS2 or even my GP2x. So I quit the 360 cold turkey. Sure, there wasn't anything I wanted to play new, but I still missed it... Dynasty Warriors and Uno and my unplayed copy of Kameo just sitting there on top of it. Mostly Uno, though.
July brings us Prey and Chrome Hounds. Teeheehehehehehehe!!!

A little early in the game to be making comments like that I think. Sure the 360 has had two little lulls in terms of releases, but it really hasn't been that big a deal. Once we get to mid July and August, we probably won't see another drought for a very long time. You know that September is going to have some big games, and October too. And of course November, December and January should all likely be pretty huge, and there should be a steady stream in 2007.
I'm buying a PS3 the day it hits, but I must admit that it's launch lineup is really crappy. All it's good games are 2007 games, and likely late 2007 games. So it isn't exactly like the PS3 or Wii is going to be coming out with tons and tons of games in a non-stop flow of games. All new systems take awhile to get their lineups together.

Being that I collect just about everything, I think that the 360 better have a pretty solid lineup or they really could be the losers this holiday. Launch of systems creates alot of hype and many people will go out and buy both the Wii and the PS3 that is for certain. New consoles during Christmas are hot sellers. I hope that the 360 can start to show its second wave of software that seperates it from just being "an Xbox 1.5". Right now the linup of the 360 looks weak, but I know that it is just he summer lull. The games such as Prey and Saints row will help, but what the 360 needs more than anything is an exclusive killer app for Christmas. I have to say that I wish that they did more with their 360 Xbox live arcade because the Wii is going to make this just look stupid... Even a small price point drop would be a good move for them....

I don't see a small drought as a big deal. IF your gaming tastes are wide enough, there's plenty to play and catch up on before the point arrives where you have neither the money or time to buy and play everything that is available. The games are coming, obviously.
I only hope that we don't see the 360 turned into just another FPS/racer console. I'm hoping that we see an even distribution of genres on the 360. Some Jak N Daxter styled platformers would be welcome and RPGs go without saying. That's the thing about Sony. Their consoles may lack balls, but they sure as hell have the software library.

You want to talk about a drought? This is nothing. How about the Nintendo 64 for the first 9 months of 1997? Nintendo still hasn't recovered.

Yeah, tell me about it. I got my 360 a couple of weeks ago and still have nothing to play.Iv'e been ripping cd's on it though. Can't wait for August when Dead Rising comes out.
P.S.-Anyone know how many cd's you can rip or is it only 100 like the Original X-box? Just curious as I'm up to 75 now.It would be cool if you could do more than 100 though.

the drought doesn't seem to be all that bad, there are a lot of good games on the horizon, and a lot of good ones already out.
Though I think the price may be contributing to the drought factor, in that games are coming out, but they're not good enough to warrent a $60 price tag. I think the high prices and game dought should end though with the PS3 launch. I mean what better way to kick Sony's behind than to offer up a console at $199 and $299 and $40-50 max price for A list games.

God of War 2 for the PS2!?
(kidding... kidding)
More then likely PS3 will have the worst lineup of games this holiday, at least for "hardcore" gamers. It's a very mainstream lineup.

I'll probably buy a Wii first then get a Xbox 360 around christmass time just in time for the rumored price drop, and Gears of War.
There is no way I'm buying a PS3 off the bat. I'm hardcore at times, but it just seems a bit of an impulse item to me right now than a gaming console.

I'm still very happy with the 360 itself, but I'm admittedly a little disappointed with what's really a drought for me. I bought into the 360 for arcade-style games and Live Arcade games. I've downloaded the full versions of all the Live Arcade games I like - but since Marble Blast (months ago), nothing new has really appeared at all at that quality level. I got DOA4, which I'm already bored of and prefer earlier DOAs to it. I also have Ridge Racer 6, which is the only thing I actually play on the 360 at this point. That's it. I don't care about FPS. I don't care about "realistic" racers or anything more involved than RR6. I don't want RPGs either (personally). It appears that a few games are on deck for this fall that will appeal - which is great - but especially in the Live Arcade realm, I think we've all been a little short changed.

I really hope that GOW does not become another Brute Force. Microsoft has always been good at delivering the hype for a game to come out, only disappoint gamers when the actual product comes. Two examples of this and the one that comes to my mind the most is Brute Force. This was supposed to be a "killer app" and it was nothing close. I didnt believe the hype and I was glad. The game is now a $4.99 clearance bin reject. Next to come along was Fable, which turned out to be ok, just not the "killer app" that Microsoft was proclaiming. I hope that they can learn from these mistakes. I do think that the $60 price tag makes a difference on how we rate if a game will be good or not. If Iam paying more for a game, then that game better deliver everything it promises. $60 is alot of dough for one game, espically when its "cousins" are nearly 1/4 of the price used.

No love for Battle For Middle-Earth II?
Ninety-Nine Nites and Enchanted Arms looked good...
Bomberman is coming thoughI have my doubts on this one.
Chromehounds and Prey of course look the most promising (why release them the same week?).
I bet there are some as yet unannounced titles.
I also have no doubt Gears Of War will be great, they would not put it up against a PS3 launch if it was not.
Street Fighter II was scheduled to come out on Xbox Arcade this week..
Also worth noting is that the Gamecube has had less releases than the 360.
Painkiller, Warpath, Knights of the Temple, are Xbox games that may have 360 compatibility.
The PS2 has nothing of note coming out until Aug. 20th with Final Fantasy VII, which I would hold off on until I can play with the PS3's better hardware.
360 is the place to be next month. Heck I consider Doom 3 a new release now that it was added to the compatibility list...

Chromehounds and Prey are gonna be tough decisions.. I'm getting them both, but at different times. I'm probably getting Prey first since the demo was f'ing sweet. Chromehounds will be the payday after that. The 360 needs a good mech game.
I'm looking forward to Ninety-Nine Nights and Gears of War the most, and have had both on reserve since the day I bought my 360.
I also agree with ClubNinja.... I grew up during the 1st arcade golden age. I want some more arcade games.
I can't wait for Scramble and Time Pilot. I hope Microsoft will make Vanguard an XBLA game. The 360 has the perfect controller for the games 4-way firing scheme.

Have you tried Burnout Revenge? That is my favorite 360 game so far. At first, I was really dissapointed with it, considering it to be nothing more than the Xbox 1 game in 720p, but after playing it some more, I realized that it's an absolutely awesome game. With Burnout Revenge for the 360, it's absolute pure fun factor, and on the right HDTV, certain tracks appear to look like you're playing a 2nd generation PS3 game. The key to Burnout Revenge, is to force yourself to play it for awhile, and make sure to use the music feature so that you are listening to your favorite tunes while you race. It's an absolute blast for me, and no other game works my subwoofer and soundsystem more. My neighbors fear it!
Also, Need For Speed: Most Wanted is another great racer too. Lots of action, lots of fun factor, not very realistic. I enjoy that one alot, I've played the downloadable demo countless times.
