I started up this thread (http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=9498) at the SHMUPS forum, and I'm trying to kick it into high gear.
Here's the deal:
Get ahold of some version of Scramble and play the bejeezus outta it! I've nothing against coordinating scores for the Vectrex version, though that naturally isn't as accessible as MAME is.
HOW FAR CAN YOU INVADE
OUR SCRAMBLE SYSTEM ?
© Konami 1981
Rules for MAME/arcade versions: All DIPs default: 3 lives DIP setting, Upright cabinet, no autofire! Please state what version you're playing - the game was also released as the first installment in Hamster's Game Center Zoku series, and also as Scramble (US) / Scramble Wars (JP) on the Vectrex.
Okay, it's about time I put this up. Somebody embarass me and my lousy 40K+ score (MAME, keyboard). It's not too tough to loop this game, so I'm expecting to see some three, four, or even five loop scores.
Please keep track of how far you have invaded the scramble system ! It will be noted in the scores list.
Scramble (MAME32):
1. 43,610 PTS - EAH - 2nd loop, 4th area - Ed Oscuro
