View Full Version : How would you prefer to receive your Digial Press Bi-Monthly

I'm new to the digital press subscription and so far I like it a lot. I do have one problem with it though, it comes in the mail. Chicago mail has a tendency to first go through a garbage disposal, then the garbage, and then somewhere along the line it gets thrown into a mail bag (maybe) where it may or may not be delivered to someone on my block from there.

It's also B&W, folded, stapled, and like I just mentioned above, normally damaged (pages ripped out, text blurred because it got wet or damp, etc.). My other magazine subscriptions (when delivered) seem to be immune to most of this since (minus some corner damage) they are either a standard size and/or come in a plastic baggie.

Personally, I would rather receive it as a PDF (color if possible) and pay the same or more! I'm just wondering if I'm in the minority or majority on this. I have access to a nice color laser printer, so I may be in the minority.

Electronic PDF (either sent in e-mail or a link to) would also guarantee delivery and would be faster too.

Just a thought, my other favorite odd-shaped magazine (2600) still only comes in paper form quarterly so I guess I wouldn't expect to see this in PDF, just hoping.

Snail mail. Sometimes I tire of doing *everything* on the computer. I'm not opposed to having it in both formats, I just don't think I would look at the pdf's.

There is a CD available that has the first 50 issues in pdf.

There's already so much electronic stuff out there. It was nice to actually get something physical for a while. It actually gave me a good reason to sit down and read it.

Bi-monthy.

Does that mean every two months or twice a month?

once every two months

twice a month would be bi-weekly, like Sports Ill.

Bi-monthy.

Does that mean every two months or twice a month?

It can mean both, hence there is the possibility of confusion.

I've had a few arrive with bent corners, or small tears on the exterior sheet, but never completely mangled.

Ok I did my research.

Does bimonthly mean twice a month or every two months?
The prefix bi- usually means 'every two', so bimonthly means 'every two months'. Semi- means 'half' or 'halfway', so semimonthly means 'every two weeks'. However, bimonthly can also mean 'twice a month' - but it is rarely used that way. It is best to remember that bi- is "every two" and semi- is "halfway."

hehe yeah I use "bi" to describe every other month (6 times a year) and "semi" to describe twice in one month (24 times a year). I didn't know "bi" could mean both, how confusing.

Anyways, guess I'm in the minority on this. I just throw most of my magazines away (I could care less about a music review 4 months from now), but this is one of the few publications I want to keep and it's so much easier for me to find hard drive space than it is shelf space, hmmmm... Oh well.

Anyone know how to buy the old issues on cd-rom? I can't find the link to buy it online and I messaged digitalpress, but no response. I can only imagine how crammed his inbox is.

I prefer getting a paper copy because it gives me something to read on the crapper.

If you have the last DP issue there is a form in there. Or call Joe at the store.

Same LOL

I still want to know why the DP team uses industrial stregnth staples to hold it together. Christ, I need a pair of pliers to be able to open the damn thing.

I would really prefer just to get paper issues, they're much more portable and versatile. I just subscibed today.

Anyone know when the next issue is shipping?

I probably wouldn't read it if it was limited to electronic distribution. There is something to be said for the sheer simplicity of paper print, I think it's as simple as that.

Snail mail. I like it just the way it is. It's the only magazine I still enjoy reading. CPU was on my good list until recently but lately it reads like the back of a product box. My sub ran out this month and I dont plan on re-upping until they get their stuff straight. Anyway, I re-upped my DP sub a month or two ago...best few bucks I've spent in a while.

Frankly, I'm tired of video game magazines in general. I've let all my subscription lapse, including DP. Just got my last copy.

Yeah, X_x'ing isn't it.

Not sure, but since there is so little coverage of the systems I like, that was the second reason I let my DP subscription run out.

Maybe I'll change my mind, but for now... :hmm:

I'll still buy the collector's guidebooks of course. But that's it for the moment.

Wow, this reminds me I need to resubscribe! FYI, if you have never subscribed, give it a shot, it's CHEAP!

See I only want electroic so I can print it whenever I please, I'm not a fan of reading magazines on my lcd at all. Oh and even with the industrial staple my issue barely comes in tack, so I'm glad they use it =)

DP used to publish a digital newletter called the DP wire which was pretty cool. It sounds like that would be what you're looking for. It unfortunately seems to have been discontinued though. :(

Stupid question, but what number is the current issue ? I bought some back issues last year, loved them & completely forgot about subscribing. :embarrassed: Any chance back issues are still available ?

Sorry to bump this topic, but can anyone tell me what the current issue is please ? The last one I bought was Issue 62 & I'd love to get hold of (any) back issues.

Many thanks. :)
