Here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cOBtMMWteA&eurl=) a funny little video about Sony's "revolutionary" new PS3 controllers.

If this has already been posted here somewhere's feel free to lock it up tighter than my wallet will be on PS3 launch day. :D

I think everyone knows that this feature isn't too special. There have been gyration controllers for media center PC's for some time now, that look and work quite similar to the wii controller. They work quite well actually, and you don't need to put any more energy into it than you would a normal controller, unlike what Nintendo seems to advertise in their videos.

Did Sony ever outright say "this is revolutionary?"

It is a funny video though. LOL

It certainly seems that this controller works one hell of a lot better than the Tilt Pack Pelican made for N64. That was horrible.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone is aware that this has been done in the past. And proof that this guy is an idiot - He dosn't know a thing about the whole Immersion thing with Sony, the reason they dont have vibration anymore. I'm not going to explain it here, but some of you know what I'm talking about

Everytime the PS3 controller get's mentioned I get depressed. :(

The fact that there isn't going to be any rumble, is just absolute insanity as far as I'm concerned. I know why they don't have it, but it's still mind blowing. It's all about pride. They need to swallow their pride and pay Immersion the damn money for it. The fact that the 360 and Wii will have real nice rumble, and the PS3 won't is depressing for me, because ultimately, I think the PS3 is going to have the most impressive next gen fare, when we hit 2008 and 2009, yet the lack of rumble is going to really piss me off!!

I might have to play the inferior 360 versions of certain games, just to gain the rumble back!

not to change the subject but whos to say that the 360 versions of next-gen games -especially multiports- would be "inferior".

Sorry but I hate that type of condecending fanboy bullshit.

Puh-lease.

Fan-boy bullshit aside, the PS3's biggest disappointment isn't the lack of a rumble feature...it's the position of the two analog sticks. Same old crappy Dual Shock design (wireless is a nice addition though). Sony's controllers never feel "right" in my hands like a Xbox or 360 controller does.

Oh god, fanboy wars. Should be some fun drama here.

A) Anthony is hardly a fanboy, but he may very well be the biggest AV whore in existance. It's pretty assanine to think that the PS3 WON'T have better looking multiplatform games, given the ridiculously longer period they've had to develop the hardware. Just like the PS2/Xbox this gen.

B) As anthony stated, Immersion is not the reason there is no rumble, sony being cheap is the reason. There are hurdles you jump to bring a quality product to the market, although I can't say that the amount they would have had to pay Immersion would have been less than the amount of sales they'll lose due to lack of the feature. I can't really fault Sony for it.

C) Everybody in every business copies every competitor. Ever. This industry is not immune to it but for some reason people take serious offense to it when it happens, you know, every week.

There's still enough time until launch. Maybe Immersion and Sony can kiss and make up and get rumble back in. It's not something I'd miss if I'd never had it, but I would really notice a lack of rumble now.

I'm behind the times when it comes to ps3 controllers. I know Sony won't be putting rumble into their 1st party controllers, but won't 3rd party controller makers be able to put it in theirs? (But then I suppose no games would support the damn thing)

Anytime I see the word "fanboy" in reference to me, I find it quite hilarious LOL If anything, I would be a fanboy towards Microsoft, although being a fanboy of the worlds biggest monopoly is quite absurd in and of itself. Although it's not an absolute certainty, it's extremely likely that the PS3 will basically be similar to the Xbox 1, from a standpoint of the multiplatform games looking better on Xbox 1, than PS2. Of course, in the first several years, there might be very little difference in the multiplatform ports, but I'm guessing towards 2008 and 2009, the PS3 versions will start to clearly look superior to the 360 versions, much as is the case with Xbox 1 looking superior to PS2 versions.

This doesn't make me a fanboy to think this, it's just rational thought. I honestly feel that the 360 is going to be the clearcut winner of this next-gen battle, but as we get into 2008 and 2009, the PS3 will start to show it's technological superiority. Of course, that means nothing in the grand scheme of installed base numbers. We all know that the PS2 was the worst hardware of the last generation, yet it absolutely dominated in terms of installed base. So just because the PS3 will be the technological leader, doesn't mean the 360 isn't going to dominate in sales.

I have no allegiance to any company, other than I would kinda like Sony to get their ass handed to them because of all their arrogance as of late. Yet, at the end of the day, I'm a gamer who craves the best gaming experience I can possibly get, and with the way the PS3 was designed, it's very likely that by late 2008 or 2009, the most impressive video game experiences will be taking place on the PS3. What dissapoints me about that, is the fact that there is going to be something missing. Namely the rumble feature. I could care less who is bringing me the most cutting edge, incredible gaming experiences, but it will dissapoint me that there is going to be this one issue with the no rumble situation. The only thing I can hope is that the consumers will start to demand rumble after awhile, and Sony will deal with the backlash and pay Immersion their licensing fee, so that by the time the PS3 has the most advanced gaming experiences, I won't have this one downside floating around in the back of my head.

In the meantime however, I'm going to be much more interested in playing multiplatform games on Xbox 360. The fact that the 360 has a great rumble is part of it, the other part is that in the first few years, I'm guessing that the multiplatform stuff will actually be better on the 360 due to ease of programming for the 360. Eventually though, as developers come to grips with PS3 development, it will start to be a clear cut case of the PS3 versions being the more "purdy" versions. 1080p and 7 cores is pretty meaningless right now in 2006, but in 2008 and 2009, that won't be the case.

I think it's all about money personally. Their competition owns Immersion, and nobody in their right mind pays their competition for something (no matter *what* it is). But that's just me.

The fact that the 360 and Wii will have real nice rumble

This made me giggle - what the heck is 'real nice rumble,' and how does that differ from the rumble I'm used to? :)
