View Full Version : Ebay won't let me pay seller

I bought an alpha I xbox off of ebay last week. The seller sent me the invoice with a shipping price included even though i told him i would be picking it up. I asked him to resend the invoice without the shipping charge, which he did through ebay. When i clicked on the pay now button it shows the updated invoice, but when i go to pay paypal says:

This function is temporarily unavailable. Please try your payment again later by returning to eBay and clicking the My eBay button.

So i asked the seller to re-invoice me. I get the same error.

At this point i'm just going to get the seller's paypal address and complete the sale without ebay (just mark the payment as money order as far as ebay is concerned). It's getting to the point of stupidity that i can't pay for this $500 item...

Anybody ever have this problem before, or know who to call to fix it? I'm not even sure if it's ebay or paypal's issue.

Just got off the phone with paypal, they say they're having technical dificulties with their server connections to ebay. They couldn't give an ETA for the service to be opperational.

If I was you, I'd wait until their servers come back. Sending money like that is incredibly risky, and it the item may not be registered as being paid.

sign in directly to your paypal account then type in the auction number and pay

No, when the Paypal servers go down, you can't pay at all, using any method.

This happens occasionally. Servers go down; that is a way of life. No need to panic.

I had that happen when I bought a 1 cent "secrets of ebay" book (hey, I was curious :P)

Ebay never let me pay - funny thing was I emailed them and they just removed the auction win from my history like it never happened... the mysteriousness....

The strange thing is, that's exactly what i did to pay him. I didn't realize paypal even had that option to be honest.

Everytime i clicked the "Pay Now" button from ebay, it gave me an error screen... weird.

That error seems to happend from time to time.

Tne workaround is to ask to the seller his paypal account and send $ directly from yours.
