Alright I really need a converter. I'm tired of having this great game laying around and not being able to play it.

I need a converter capable of playing Terranigma PAL on a US SNES.

If you have one please let me know how much/what you want for it.

THANKS!

There's no such thing. You can't use a convertor to play PAL SNES games on an NTSC system. The only way is with a hardware mod.

Well that sucks. I broke my soldering iron tip trying to replace the fuse in my Sega cd. I don't think I can actually perform the mod on a snes.

I thought I read there are converters that allow you to plug a US game into the back of it and that will allow you to play a PAL game on a US system.

Is there a guide anywhere on how to do the mod? I would eventually like to play this game too someday (I just beat Soul Blazer and beat Illusion of Gaia a couple weeks ago), I'd like to finish the "trilogy."

If there isn't a converter, then what is this:

Made by a company called Vintron. :P It was only $5 many years ago.

Then there is even this thing-

I have that same convertor. I use the convertor for Dragon Quest V, DQ VI, Seiken Densetsu 3.

Does it work with Terranigma?

I don't know anything about that converter pictured, however...

If you can get your hands on a Pro Action Replay 3 for the SNES, this will do what you are asking. It will play Terranigma(PAL) on your NTSC TV and NTSC SNES just fine. I picked up my Terranigma cart and this device for my own collection just recently(past few months).

Make sure you get a Pro Action Replay 3(Sometimes refered to as a PAR3 or MK3). The PAR and PAR2 are more easily available but will not play Terranigma.

Some owners of the PAR2 say that it also works, but others say it doesn't. I also recall reading one thread online at another board where a PAR2 owner says he could play it, but he was unable to save.

So if you choose the PAR route, make sure its a PAR3.

Edit: coreycorey2000 the converter I'm talking about is probably the one you're thinking of because it has the slot in the back for the US game like you mentioned. Here is a pic of the PAR3:

I never got around to getting Terranigma as a cart, so I don't know if the thing I have plays it.

Both of those below play Japanese but not PAL...they're only passthru convertors as far as I know...though Lik-Sang says otherwise. If the PAR 3 plays PAL, I didn't realize that. I've VERY rarely seen one tho...

Any SNES converter that has slots for two cartridges will do NTSC->PAL conversion and vice versa. The converter reads the lockout chip from the domestic cart before switching to the import.

They work with most games. However, in newer first party games like Terranigma, Nintendo added code to detect if the cart wasn't running in the video mode it was designed for. Newer adapters like the PAR MK3 were made to bypass that.

Any PAR3 should have 100% success with Terranigma.

The likely reason some people are having mixed results with the PAR2 is that there is about a half dozen different versions of it - 1.0, 1.1, 2.P, etc. From what I've heard, a "2.T" version will work with Terranimga.

Hope that info helps.
