So, heres a video highlighting what they think are the best traditional guns in videogames ever. I think the list is pretty good, but there are a few I'd put on an honorable mentions list, and I invite you to do the same.

Farsite (sp?) in Perfect Dark - This weapon was crazy as hell. As far as I know, the first weapon that you could kill people through floors/walls. Such fun.

Phoenix also PD - Double P's and explosive rounds = awesome.

'Steak Gun' from Painkiller - I'm not sure the real name, but this gun shoots, basically, sharpened logs. You can pin you enimes to walls, and it creates some great fun. There are also a couple other awesome guns in this game, but none that are this special

So, those are my few suggestions. How about you?

I love that the red turtle shells were on there (though I honestly probably would've put them at number 1), but what about the blue spiked shell? That one could run through all of the guys in front of you in a race, if you were lucky enough to find one, and ALWAYS took somebody down with it (the red shells are definately good, but across sharp turns they were useless).

I always thought the blue spiked shell only hit the person in first, and if you're in 4th or worse it really dosn't help you out, where if you have 3 red shells, you can get up to first if well used. Also, I take it you've never played HL2, because if you have, you'd agree with the first place choice as it is. Such an awesome gun.

Couldn't agree more. The red shells were completely useless on levels with turns like the Yoshi level the Boo level and especially rainbow road... It should have been the Blue shell or Lightning. Lightning took everyone out.

But there were some weapons they could have thrown in there. It was rigged for poularity. The laptop from PD? That easily could have been replaced with something better

In Mario Kart: Double Dash! the blue shell will hit anyone that's in it's direct path. In Mario Kart: DS it only hits the player in 1st... I think.

Anyway, I'm glad the red shells are on there too. :)

I think the blue shells are lame, and if you have good timing the red turtle shells own. I'm glade they put the red ones on the list.

Farsight rocks but I gotta give props to the laptop gun.

My cousin and I would play co op against perfect sims in perfect Dark. Those things are impossible to take down, unless you have the laptop gun. It turned an impossible mission into a fun little cat and mouse mission.

If i have to choose a weapon from the list i will go with the Doom Chainsaw. Sorry but i loved this weapon. running around just slice and dice everything in your way, great fun. LOL

My Favorite weapon not on the list for me anyway is the Shrink ray from the Duke Nukem games, I just loved to step on the little fuckers, LOL

I always had alot of fun with those hairspray flamethrowers in "Blood"...especially when it's ALT fire mode was either lighting it and tossing it or dropping it and running away.

The chainsaw comment made me remember another awesome weapon, the Chainsaw Sword from Heavy Metal FAKK 2. A game that I really wish they made a sequel to.

They should have included some 'other' weapons like... Castlevania's Crissagrim/Valmanway and the Alucard Shield/Shield Rod combo from SOTN. That was good stuff!

Not a terrible list. At least they mentioned the Spread Gun from Contra. I keep that gun on me at all times. As far as honorable mentions go:

And that lovely rocket launcher from ROTT. Heck, the weapons in that game alone could make it's own list. "Ludicrous Gibs", anyone?

Nice to see mentions of Blood and Shadow Warrior weapons. :) The Shrink Ray was cool too. Oh, and I'd also like to mention the Custom Shotgun from Resident Evil 2. That thing just gives such a satisfying sound right before a zombie's head would go flying.

Voodoo Doll, Dynamite

Nothing was more fun than poking a little doll and watching blood fucking SPRAY in an arc across the room. It really wasn't very powerful but every single stab sent tons of gore all over the place! The dynamite was my second favorite of the bunch. It was such a lovely time watching cultists turn INSIDE OUT and burn and then splatter all over the place. The Dynamite also came in several flavors too! Fuse, Proximity or Remote activated! Ahhh man...I loved that game!

Speaking of Rise of the Triad... the Baseball bat and Firebomb in that kicked ass.. not to mention Barking.

And BOOYAH at the Redeemer.. nothing more satisfying then flying it around a level and hearing the announcer scroll through all the various kill types "SDLKFJSLKJFKHOLY SHIT!!!"

I used to have hours of fun making myself invisible and dropping like 50 of those remote activated dynamite packs around a collection of zombies/cultists...added fun was setting them off with a fused pack or one of those lit hairspray bottles. If you did it right you'd get this massive BOOM! and you see a shadow on the ground where the zombie remains would land like 30 seconds later. LOL

Lighting the zombie heads on fire and then kicking them around was also pretty fun.

I think they shoulda added the yellow snowballs from south park.

Basicly instead of picking the Redeemer or other such weapons they went to the first of its type, the BFG. That covers them all.

The halo pistol shoulda been there though, it dominates.

unbroken, you're giving alot of credit to FPS there, though I haven't played all of those. The rocket launcher was way better in later games where you could aim up/down and control splash damage much better. I can't give Doom the rocket launcher, but a very nice start.

I have to say this, I hate the fucking red shells in the Mario Kart games. Sure they're powerful as all hell, but they're just plain cheap in multiplayer. The game is practically centered around the red shells, and IMO was always the gaping flaw in the Mario Kart series...especially since you can't turn the damn things off. Then again, I always thought that the first Crash Team Racing was better than Mario Kart 64, particularly for multiplayer and undoubtably for battle mode, even if it was an obvious rip-off cash in.

There should've been a shotgun somewhere, somehow instead of the red shells.

Very happy to see the rail gun in there, my favorite weapon in a game ever.

I always thought the guns in turok were pretty cool, and turok evolution kinda took a shot at pulling off something like the gravity gun, though it was only good on enemies.

I'd have put the golden gun/pp7 from goldeneye on there, though.
