Broken PS & PS analog controllers?

I just bought an in-box dual shock PS that came with two dual-analog controllers. Neither of the controllers seem to work. I know it's not the console, because I was able to get it to work with two regular controllers I had sitting around.

For one controller, pushing the "analog" button, does nothing (no LED). For the other, the LED does turn on. It seems none of the other buttons function for either controller. This stays the same if I switch the 1P/2P ports (further indicating it is the controllers, not the console).

Am I doing something wrong? Are they broken? If so, any ideas what could be wrong and if they're fixable?

On another note, I have a different PS console that won't spin the discs. I'm thinking the motor is burnt out. Any ideas?

Well if the analog light isn't turning on, then that controller is probably kaput. However if the other one is turning on and nothing's happening, then there could be some issues with your controller ports themselves. The only other thing I can think of is that you were trying the controllers out on a game that doesn't like Analog and thusly won't work (when the analog light is on).

About the burned out PlayStation. Just find another one of the same model type (as there were revisions of the drives along the way) and switch the drives. Its very easy to do... as long as you don't tug too hard and pull the connector thats on the circuit board off the board. That or just get another PlayStation all together unless that one holds some serious sentimental value because either way it involves buying another PlayStation to get it working.

Try them on a PS2 with a newer game. Many games don't like and refuse to work with the analog sticks.

On a side note, that reminds me. I have to go get another controller... as I have like 4 that have worn out R1 and R2 buttons from me playing Frequency too much... lol

I don't have a PS2 :/

But I will try them with some other games. I only tried one game.

Anyone have any technical advice, like electrical components to check or any measurements I can take?

As for the console, I figured as much :/
Although I'm handy with electronics if, again, there are any specific components I can check/replace.

Find a friend with a PS2. Seriously, you can't really be sure unless you KNOW the game supports analog.
