who here is planning on dishing out the extra $10 for the limited print run of FF XII? I definately have to because I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. I was also one of the people that had to buy the collector's edition of Oblivion for $70+strategy guide ($20) plus all the extra content (about another $10). I don't even care about what extra content is in there, but as soon as i hear the words "limited quantity" I have to shell out the cash.

I doubt it'll be as limited as that UBAR RAR3 Halo 2 Special Editon.
I'll buy it, I don't even know what it is, but I'll buy it. But it'll hardly be "limited"

Those are usually limited to the number they can sell. Aren't most of those collectors editions, not limited? Anyway, I'd probably get it if I planned on getting FF12, which I don't think I am. But who knows.

If there is any chance on it being rare like the LE MGS3 Sub, I'll get it.

got a question...what's limited about it?
Metal case, developer's interviews, history of Final Fantasy featurettes, Final Fantasy XII U.S. trailers, Final Fantasy XII Japanese trailers, and a Final Fantasy art gallery.
Also, it's only available at EB Games, GameStop, EBGames.com, or GameStop.com apparently.

That so called re4 gamecube collector tin from gamestop.
screwed me hard with no grease. So called lit picture and mini strategy guide. More like a baseball card and a jack in the box book. That is one of my worse ones today, When I hear gamestop exclusive I think I'll wait.
I really think we need to stop supporting these gimmicks until they put something out that is truly worth it.
What's that only a limited number of copies will be made. You got me I would like to put 5.00 down to reserve one.

I plan on getting the game so I'll most likely get this version, it's only and extra $10 and you get a metal tin and a DVD.
And I don't think it's a "limited edition," the websites are describing it as a collector's edition, which is basically the same, but doesn't imply that it will have a small print run.
The gamestop site states limited quantities, but that could just mean that less will be stocked for each location, like 5 CE versions and 10 normal ones per store or something like that.

Yeah I'll buy it. How often does EB Games allow pre-ordering for something like this and some people don't recieve it? I wish they had something on there saying "Order today and we guarantee you a copy." Sure would make me feel better about the .com I choose to order from. There isn't a very good chance I'll have a hard time finding one in a shop after its release but I guess I don't want to take any chances.

If I'm already buying a game and they're offering a special edition...I go with the special edition. Even for a worthless piece of garbage like Mortal Kombat: Deception. What's $10 when I'm already spending $50?
I'm contemplating on buying the game when it comes out, or just waiting a couple of months until it turns GH. I wouldn't pick up the "uber limited collectors extreme edition" edition of any game really, unless it came with something worthwhile.

I am definitely going to buy the limited edition. I am a huge fan of the FF series, am really anticipating this game, AND I am a sucker for the limited editions with the special packaging.

i too am a huge FF fan, and have all US FFs released. i dont even have a ps2 and ill get this CE.
oh isnt the CE of oblivion for PC hard as hell to find? most places were sold out on day one and no additional copies were made. im sure you can get it on ebay, but still.

Well at least the metal tin insures that the game won't be too hard to find in decent condition after release. I'll buy it later used or just marked down.
While I've been known to shell out $50 for some games, especially should they come in fragile cardboard collector boxes there's no way in hell I'm falling for it this time. It's Final Fantasy. It won't be rare. And honestly the demo sucked. I don't need it brand new.

yeah the collectors edition of oblivion i thought wasn't too bad. The packaging was cool looking and the coin is pretty sweet. I definately don't see any of the Oblivion CE for sale in stores any more but they are actually pretty cheap (considering its a fairly newer release) on e-bay. But even if you find a used copy of the CE for any game, there is a good chance you won't find all the extras it came with. Better to buy them new so u know it has everything. I was going to buy FF12 anyway also so might as well get the better one if i am going to get one at all, no half assed penny pinching when it comes to that type of thing for me. Same with any systems i get. I want the top of the line or else I'll just wait.

With all the talk/hype over this release, I hope it doesn't end up like the Halo 2 "collector's" edition. LOL
I pre-ordered just in case.

I'm finally going to go preorder mine today. I am going hope it'll be as limited as the MGS: subsistance LE. If not, then its final fantasy in a tin case and thats good enough for me. I know that sometimes gamestops and whatnot have a tendency to tell you you're definatley going to get one and then go oops, sorry not enough copies in. You'll have to wait 3 months from now.

Usually, if there's a "Collector's Edition" or "Limited Collector's Edition" of a game available I go for that version.

About 90% of the time if there's a regular version and a special edition of anything, I buy the special edition. The only times I don't is if it seems very glaringly like a money grab on the producers of the item's part, and my standards regarding that are pretty low.

yeah I didn't really find anything noteworthy with the Perfect Dark Zero collectors edition. If all they have is interviews and the making of features, it doesn't really grab my attention. The doom 3 collectors edition was pretty sweet though because it had some interesting interviews and it had the first 2 doom games with it. When special editions come with added game content and extended playability, thats when i think the extra money is worth it. PDZ: CE for the 360 should have come packed with the original Perfect Dark. That woulda been really worth it.
