Just to let everyone know, I had to put the Zelda III prototype up on eBay.

Nice way to make a few quick bucks off the backs of the community...
Edit: Eh, that's too harsh... i'll let you explain the situation

Why are you selling it? I wouldn't think someone would sell something like this unless they need the cash for something else. People might look a little more friendly on the situation if you explain why.

Of course I'll explain, 1,200 was a little too much for me after all. I was a little exagerated when I bought it. I am not even into SNES that much, more into NES. I set the price at $1,499 to be able to take best offers.
If anyone is interested, I can end the auction. I never intended to profit from it, rather take best offers to go about even. I would prefer to sell it to anyone at DP of course.

But anyway, I don't think I have to clarify that I need money for this and that as a "proof"..
Everyone needs money more or less!

I honestly didn't think the proto was worth what you paid in the first place, i was alittle surprised to see it go for what it did the first time, but i do wish you the best of luck with it.
I thought jollyrancher would have had to re-list it with a normal auction, since i thought no one would have took it at such a high price?
So you might find your stuck with it for know.. but it will be worth more in the future. It is highly collectable, so you never know?
But i'm thinking for now, you've inflated price alot and now, it's got a high value, but no real collectors or people in general that will go for it, even if you get offers in the high 100's your still loosing money, and it's still too high a price.
Secret of mana proto only went for $200 or $300 and chrono proto that was a long board only got around the same amount.
I think all the hype created here and on Ebay.. just added to the whole situation, at any other time, the zelda proto would have never touched $1,000
But there are collectors out there that want it, so hopefuly you should get it sold.

Castlevania4ever looks like the new owner of this cart. Surprised? I'm not. He must grow the $$ on trees outside.

Yeah, Niels is pretty top with buying things. I just sold him 2K worth of stuff from my collection just the other day, nothing that I had not had for years, though =)

I am hoping this prototype is dumped so I can take a look at the data :/

I would guess...
And its just a guess...
But the quick resale might tell ALOT about just how different this game really is.
ie final version with no differences.
I am hoping this prototype is dumped so I can take a look at the data :/

I figured I would get at least my money back if I sold it while it's still a little hype in the air. As I said earlier, I don't collect SNES at all. I always look for NES protos, so if something really interesting would surface, I don't want to miss anything due to lack of money. I've come to understand that we are going to see quite many NES protos on eBay in the near future ;)

how can anyone tell the difference between this version and the original version other than that Zelda 3 sticker on it. Even the gameplay is the same.

Even the gameplay is the same.
How can you know that when you havnt even tried it?

Well there doesn't have to be any actual gameplay difference for there to be unused item code, object code, or stuff like that still in the game that was cleaned out in the final verison.
But it could just be a difference of code optimiziation.

DreamTR: One guy I know (but not sure if I can tell) is going to sell most of his protos. You probably already know who he is. He has been in contact with many collectors before it all hits eBay. I also talked to a guy who recently sold a couple of NES/SNES countertesters and some GB dev stuff on eBay if he had any NES protos. He said he had both released and unreleased ones, and would soon list them. He'd send me links to them when he did.
And of course Jollerancher, if he digs up more stuff.

I too have been in contact with the seller of the future sold protos. DreamTR, I believe he contacted you on a certain unreleased proto. I made an offer on it but sadly it wasn't enough (he could definitely get more than I offered for it). He told me today that he talked to van_halen and I guess he was in contact with c4e as well. Quite a few protos. Going to be interesting to see what they sell for on the bay :)

van_halen and Hounder: The only person that I was in contact with lives in Norway, is that who you are referring to? He only has 5 protos or so, but no one else has contacted me about prototypes.....

That's him, I think he has about 8. The other guy I talked with, gave me hints of having more than that. He didn't want to tell me what titles he had though...

Ah ok, I was a bit confused for a second...

That's him. I think he has more than 5 but maybe he's only getting rid of that many? Also, a member on this board has been selling a butt load of them on ebay. He has the NTSC Trolls in Crazyland and Megaman 3 on ebay right now.

Ebay cancelled the MM3 auction (bastards) ... waiting to see what/if Trolls goes for.
