Ya, complete ROM collections are found on News Groups and Torrents. I've had complete collections for many years and backed up on several computers for references. If it weren't for ROMs I would have wasted more hours infront of TV after school and less playing games on the PC and getting experience with what's out there to some degree.

There's a torrent that's been floating around for a long time. I downloaded it from torrent spy. It's a massively compressed file (down to 2 gigs) and supposedly has 11,000 roms in it. Haven't opened it yet though.

Just 2 gigs for 11,000 ROMs compressed? Sounds like it's a collection of mostly 8-16bit games, older games are around 1 MB for every 200 ROMs or so.

The mod team has discussed it and we are waiting for word from The Boss.

i appologize if this isnt an "appropriate topic" to discuss.
Just got into the rom kick here recently and tryin to locate the complete sets for download. Dont have the time to sit around and d/l each game individually. so if any one else has any direct links or complete sets themselves, please pm me. im more than willing to host the files on my site.

Well, there's nothing in the FAQ about requesting roms but that needs to be modified since based on precedent (1) requesting roms for active systems is a big-time no-no (2) requesting roms for dead systems usually leads to a pretty good argument on whether the system is "really dead" or not. For instance, in this case, I would argue that SNES roms should be off limits since a lot of those games are being released for the GBA. And (one of the) counterarguments might be that the GBA games are not SNES games, etc.

Since I'm relatively new to modding this forum I'm going to sit back and see what happens.

I'm interested in getting complete, properly named, and properly dumped ROMsets too, but I don't have the disk space yet.

I don't see what's wrong with dl'ing one game at a time.
Saying you don't have the time to do that is just baffling. I mean if you don't have time to spend 30sec dl'ing the ROM, how are you going to find time to play the damned game?

www.pleasuredome.org.uk is a great torrent site that does have some legal emulation downloads - lots of nifty stuff that anybody would like. Though beware you've got to put back what you take out, so that torrent will be running for a while. Still, pretty darn good for reliability, speed, and they update very quickly after new releases. They don't have ROMs for Nintendo systems, the Genesis - a lot of that controversial stuff won't be found.

I thought it was allowed only for consoles that were truely dead. Of course that line's gonna get real grey with the Wii comes out and allows you to play older 8-bit and 16-bit games.
