Lets see what the collective DP mind can produce in the way of PS2 modchips.
I have a slim (v12) PSTwo that I would like modded. I'm a reviewer for a website, and a lot of companies send preview builds on burned discs - that's my primary reason for wanting the mod. I've been using a magic swap, but the disc is starting to be a bit unstable.
I don't really need/want advanced features (HDD loader, media player, homebrew, whatever). Just the ability to play burned discs and a stealth mode for online gaming.
Any recommendations for specific chips, preferably as cheap as possible? Any good/bad experiences in buying from specific stores? Anyone on DP have a mod service that anyone can recommend?
Thanks much.

Get a hold of this guy. He's the best modder around:

Just bought a pre-moded v12 PStwo off DAVBERES a few months ago and it works flawlessly. Offers a 3 month warranty on his mods and even provides pics of the job after he installs the chip.
He charges $35 for the install + return ship. You can either ship him your own chip or he'll provide one of your choice at cost. I got the DMS4 SE Pro which seems to be the most popular chip right now but a lot of people like the Matrix Infinity too.

Thanks Norkusa. Anyone else with experience with that guy or anything else from the opening post?

Giving a bump to see if anyone else has input.
You could try modchipstore.com or request a debug kit from Sony. I don't know if they'd consider sending one out to you this late in the game but they're so neat!
If you get a debug kit there's a chance you won't be able to play backups on the DK...but of course you'll be able to play code from developers. I tried playing the nude version of DOA Xtreme BV on an Xbox DK and it wouldn't work...although it did recognize the disc. Hope this helps!

Definitely go with the guy that norkusa linked to...he's fantastic, and has just about the best wiring/soldering skills I've ever seen. My modded slimline has worked perfectly with everything I can throw at it since he modded it.

Hey Tyler, Whats up. I got a modded PSTwo for reviewing games as well. We are starting (soon) some import reviews, so I recently went through this myself.
I see RCM suggested modchipstore.com. This is where I got mine, and if you send yours in, they will mod it. They have online chat, and shipping was pretty fast. But it sounds like Norkusa's solution is cheaper.
I got the DMS4, and it has played the trade discs I have got for review, and the JPN imports all as expected.
I have had my modded PSTwo for about two months now, and have had no problems.
