Any recommendations for Saturn imports (with no NTSC-U release) in the action or adventure category?

I picked up most of the beat’em ups: nekketsu oyako, crows, tenchi kurau ii, D&D collection, but I am still missing a few.

Action/Puzzle games are also fine like lemmings just no mahjong or bubble bobble style games (I have enough bubble bobble titles I don’t play as it is :) ). Try to avoid recommendations that rely on an understanding of japanse e.g. the jp version of Lunacy.

I left out shooters as lists for them are rather easy to find on the net, although I might start a similiar thread for them sometime.

Examples of what I am looking for:
Ninja Jajamarukun (silly 3D action game)
Incredible toons (own it haven’t tried it yet)
Castlevia Dracula x
Hissatsu (ninja action game - still looking for this one)
Prikura Daisakusen (I know, its a shooter but a rather unique one with more or an action setting)
Etc

FWIW, I'm looking to get rid of some of these games in the near future. Undecided on some (i.e. Hissatsu) but certain on others (Dracula X, Ninja Jaja)

if you (or anyone else) are interested, PM me with a price offer.

As for recommendations, can't go wrong with any of the Capcom 2D fighters.
Saturn Bomberman Fight!! is a terrific isometric 3D variation -- the perfect companion to Saturn Bomberman.
Keriotosse! is a nice little 4 player poy poy clone.
Fire Pro 6 Man Scramble is classic.
Necronomicon is loved by all.

Elevator Action Returns is great
Original Metal Slug

And any of the Capcom fighters are great also.

Stay away from D & D collection, it is a great game but the loading times will kill you. It is much better to play on MAME

Keio Yugekitai. Lots of fun.

If you do pick up a shooter, make sure it's DODONPACHI.

And I didn't think the load times on the D&D games were that bad; were you using a 4MB RAM cart?

another vote for Elevator Action Returns.

Stay away from Dracula X - NitM. It may have some extra features over the PS1 version, but it also has loading hitches in the middle of levels and washed out visuals. None of the extras really add to the game, either. It's kind of like comparing Shineryu to Geki-oh.

Assault Suit Leynos 2 is equal parts badass and awesome and should be picked up post-haste if you even remotely like action games.

Silhouette Mirage is a fantabulous side scrolling action platformer. Considering how much Working Designs fucked up the core gameplay in the US release, it's fair to say that this game never really made it out of japan.

Deep Fear isn't a great game, but it's a fun little popcorn game that you and your friends can sit around, play, and laugh at. It's the Saturn's answer to Resident Evil but with much worse voice acting, cinemas that look like they were done by high school students and (very importantly) the ability to run around with your gun drawn. Some of the puzzles are a bit meh, but general gameplay isn't too bad. Funny little footnote in survival horror history.

All Japan Pro Wrestling (Featuring Virtua) is a fun 3d wrestling game with Jeffry and Wolf from Virtua Fighter.

World Advanced Daisenryaku: Sakusen Fire is the incredible sequel to Kotetsu no Ikusakaze, which we got as Iron Storm. If you've played Iron Storm then the menus will be easy to navigate and you'll get a kick out of the much improved graphics and additional depth in aerial combat :)

I believe all japanese games are NTSC. So all the games you listed had a NTSC release.

He said NTSC-U (the U stands for the United States)

He wants only NTSC-JP games (game that only came out in japan)

Sega trader needs to do a better job of reading posts LOL . Okay, I will admit I did edit the post to add the U on.

Anyway back to the discussion.

I was unaware that Necronomicon was a squal to last gladiators pinball. I will have to pick it up.

I have not heard of Keriotosse and was unable to find any screenshots. I didnt mind Poy Poy so maybe I will keep an eye out for this one.

World Advanced Daisenryaku seems rather cheap on ebay. I should be able to get a copy for ~6.00 shipped from a us seller when one goes up for auction at 0.99.

I plan on picking up elevator action, assault leynos 2,Silhouette Mirage, along with many other listed at some point.

I like trying to find copies with mint discs and no spine card or slightly damaged manuals as I can get them cheaper. Paper lasts hundreds or years, scratched discs on the other hand may stop working half way though the game.

If you want a fun little sleeper title, try Steamgear Mash. It's a diagonal overhead platform shooter, and the music and character design is reminiscent of Jumping Flash. It won't change your life, but it's fun. A slight bit of Japanese knowledge is required to play it though, you should be able to pretty much figure it out without too many problems.

Keio Yuugekitai is great. Bulk Slash is fun. There's a freakin' stack of shooters a mile high, half of which are great games. Silhouette Mirage, Guardian Heroes...etc.etc. Oh, yeah. Pricey, but excellent is Princess Crown.

Follow the link in my sig... quite a lot of information there.

I thought Wachenroder was a fun RPG.. and you can play it just fine because some "uber-fan" has translated the entire game with a FAQ and guide on GameFAQs.

Holy shit. I'm going to import that sucker, then. It's always looked pretty interesting and I remember drooling over the screenshots in the japanese magazines, but the sad reality that it'd never come out in the US cut deep.

A complete copy usually goes for no more than ten bucks on evilBay.. seriously. I think I got mine 2 years ago for $8 + S&H. Just make sure you go to Game FAQs and get the three (as I remember) documents authored by Steven's friends. They make the game much more enjoyable. One as I recall is a word-for-word translation of the game's entire dialog, one was a FAQ/walkthrough and I forget what the 3rd guide was about.

The 3D characters look a little funky on a 2D background.. but hey.. it's the Saturn and they looked about as good as the characters in Burning Rangers I thought. Combat was fun and the dialog was dark.. but funny at times. I'd call it a steam punk setting. When I saw a couple of the female characters.. I kinda' thought that's where Ulala came from.

Here's another one that I stumbled upon recently... Gussun Oyoyo S, an action puzzler where you use tetris-style falling blocks to build a path/staircase for your character to reach an exit. Again, nothing groundbreaking but it's a fun one you can probably pick up for cheap. Plus, it's by Xing, which may be a bonus for some collectors.

def. a solid puzzle action title, also, be aware that the Saturn received its harder to find sequel as well, called ZOKU Gussun Oyoyo.

I think the series started out on SFC

If you like pinball games, Fantastic Pinball Kyutenkai and Pinball Graffiti are very good too. They're not as good as Necronomicon, but they're still very good pinball games.
