I could be wrong, but there is no interface on the original NES that allows you to use S-Video. I think it would be a deep system mod and would require you pulling it right off the board (I might be wrong on this).

You would have to get your NES modded to do this. I don't know if anyone has done this mod yet though.

Id imagine there would be one though.

You can get SNES cables though can't you?

Actually, the only way to get S-Video from a NES, is to do a super expensvie RGB mod, and then use a rgb to s-video adapter. Of course, if you were going to spend that much $$$, you might as well use it in RGB on a real RGB monitor.

Unfortunately, you'll have to make do with Composite when it comes to the NES, unless you want to spend the big $$$$ to the rgb mod done.

No place does it. The only mod I know of is where someone took a PPU out of an actual Playchoice-10 board and modded it to go in their NES. Using that, they were able to get true RGB out of it. But that is the only way to do it. I do wish someone would do this mod for me, but no one does it.

I'm pretty sure if you track down the correct Playchoice 10 PPU, with the chip that's needed to do the mod, then somebody would do it for you, for a price, a pretty high price. But the trick is tracking down the correct PPU that's needed.

But then you've removed another Playchoice 10 from the world. Kind of a sad mod methinks.

Well, I dunno...isn't it on the game board? You'd just be shit-canning a game. And who cares about that? PC10games are like 20 bucks on ebay. Wasn't there a site showing this mod where it discussed which games are good to use? It was a forum, I think...

All NES machines that was sold in France had RGB out, nothing else. Dont know if this is a way to convert, to take some parts from it? Might collide with the PAL/NTSC tho :(

EDIT: Fixed a typo.

I thought the Sharp Tiler had S-Video too? Not exactly a cheap option though...

If that was the case, why would people buy Playchoice-10 boards?

Indeed, the titler does have S-Video out, but they didn't do it with magic. It has the same PPU as the Playchoice boards.

Huh, I thought the PPU was on the PC10 motherboard itself, which is why I initially bought one. But killing a Playchoice just to get RGB off a NES seemed like a waste.

Aren't the French units SECAM, not PAL? Do any other European NES systems have SCART connectors that carry RGB? I'm sure the RGB off a SECAM/PAL unit would work fine with a US RGB monitor, but I wonder if the extra scanlines would screw up a stock RGB-to-NTSC S-Video encoder...

You want to see how difficult it is to get S-Video or component off an nes?

Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz7T5lWmGDE

I don't know the author of the video, but its very interesting to watch!
