Would you do this trade?

Though I didn't actually approach Professor Berdan about this, he was at my place on Saturday and one of the blockbuster deals that didn't happen would have been an original Vectrex Mini-Cade unit in exchange for a Planet of the Apes (previously known as Alligator People) Atari 2600 prototype cartridge.

I discussed with my associate Mr. Hardie who felt that it would have been a bad deal for me (I have the Mini-Cade). Space is a premium at my place, however, and the Mini-Cade is missing the marquee and a silver touchplate that surrounds the control panel. The unit is in otherwise excellent condition.

So what do YOU think?

any idea how many minicades are confimed to date?
and are there any complete ones?

i voted that i thought you might be getting the better deal, just because the minicade isnt totally complete.. and because there is practically no chance to ever restore it with original parts.. although it is definetely something i would like

This may sound stupid, but wht is a minicade. Since I have never heard of it I didn't vote yet.

this is opinon, but here goes, for me I'd much rather have the planet of the apes proto, but then again I'm not much into vectrex or stand alone machines....they're probably equal is rarity, and thus I believe that is comes down to what both parties really want....I see it as fair if the proto makes one happy and the mini-cade makes one happy.

Hmmmm...if you placed both of these in front of me and said "Choose", I would definitely pick the minicade.

Having said that, it sounds like a fair trade if you ask me.

It seems like a fair trade however since I don't get into vectrex too much, I would definitely want the planet of the apes over the mini cade. I think you have a pretty tough decision considering your collection Joe.

Value wise, considering they are both very rare, it comes down to your priority. Vectex or ATARI?? I choose atari.

I'd say there would need to be a couple of extras tossed in with the minicade.. nothing spectacularly rare or anything, but it needs something to even it out.

I like the actual hardware more than the carts myself. So if I had the mini arcade I would not trade it...even for a proto.
