Man think of all the crazy rare items that surfaced for sale here at DP and on ebay. Many which haven't been seen for sale in years are poping up one after the other. Some have never been seen before anywhere !

1. Sealed Stadium Events
2. Campus Challenge cart
3. 2 Earthbound protos
4. Gold NWC cart (up now)
5. Mr Boston for Vectrex
6. several unreleased prototypes

Several people sold everything they had including Darth Vader the guy with the Stadium Events and Jollyrancher.

Plus all those long term collectors selling right now in the buying and selling forums.

Its far from over but I can't believe all the stuff that has been poping up for sale lately.

This has been a crazy year so far. I can't even keep track of how many so called collectors are selling out. The funny thing is a large amout of the items seem to be selling lower than they did when they got them. For the most part it seems like the people who are selling only have been collecting for no more than 5 years and I have bought a ton of games from the same people who outbid me on the same items over the years.

I think as Ebay becomes even more easy to use and those Retail Ebay sell it stores tell people they can get big money for games that more and more rare games will be out for sale.
And dont forget more main stream video game price guides are out and that makes people want to sell.

Its been a crazy year thats for sure, prices are just so random lately, in the smaller game market, and also the tables have changed in terms of collecting.

The NES and SNES prices have raised and the 2600 prices have gone down.

I've been trying to follow which are on the low right now, this way its easier to get a complete collection of something that used to be hard, or could be hard. Nintendo 64 is deffinitly on a low, but i see it going up in about a year or two.

There's been a lot of good stuff but I think it's the tip of the iceberg. There's a lot of stuff out there in attics and warehouses left waiting to be discovered IMO.

This is what I have always believed, or at least a hoping.

Yeah, even a little lower down the scale there's been tons of rarities popping up - minty DarXide & PAL T-Mek, loose copies of the same, 1 or possibly 2 SMS Mah-Jongs, at least 5 or 6 copies of SMS Smurfs 2...

i think every year you have MANY UR games that sell either by E-bay or private sales. just you forget about what all sold in past years and think more of what is selling now. like last year (correct me if i'm wrong) FND and SLY sold their 2600 collections both had HUGE collections as far as Atari goes... don't know what big happen in NES last year..

but the last 5 years it seems more people selling out, (lost jobs/getting on with real life matters...ect)

seems like a crazy year to me too... I've picked up half a dozen prototype systems so far. Just picked up an alpha xbox for $500 and nobody even bothered to bid against me 0_o

The NWC keeps climbing, it's pretty much guaranteed that the next one won't sell for less then 5 figures.

Private sales for everything from the alpha version of halo to unreleased saturn games.

Deuce and Madden 96 for the psx were both leaked. Another retail copy of Half Life for the Dreamcast was found.

Even before the summer slump, everything has been going for bargain basement prices...

Shaping up to be an odd year for gaming.

You mean HL, not PA right? As far as i'm aware, propeller arena was never stamped (i'm not sure if it went gold or not). However, there were retail samples made of the packaging, and the game does have a upc code. I'm pretty sure the packaging was either thrown out or is locked up at Sega of Japan.

Jay Smith came up with a bundle of Sierra stuff, one including the retail packaging for HL. I don't know if his copy has the disc or not, but if it does, it's the 4th retail copy known to still exsist out of a possible 12 (10 complete retail copies of the game were sent to sierra, the other two i'll leave to the readers imagination).

More details on HL here, just because i don't feel like copying and pasting:
http://gamerhistory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=153

I don't actually put any faith that the last post saw it at a rental store.

As for proto consoles, 2 xbox, 3 ps2, and a saturn proto. I remember seeing an "NES devkit" up on ebay at some point this year too (homemade by the developers of course).

As for what's still out there, known to exsist but not found? Neptune, Sony SNES CD, Saturn Virtua Fighter 3, Saturn Shenmue, the original PS2 prototypes, the giant silver "directXbox" (i know where to find some, but none are in collector's hands), Katana Set 1, Mother 3 (we need to help out coreycorey2000), Mario 128, K-Project (the sequel to rez)... the list goes on and on... There's still plenty of game related history to find out there, and still plenty of years in which to find it.

I remember the NES kit too :) It was some big card screwed to a wooden plate. It missed some essential parts tho so it was pretty much useless.

oh ok - it was complete.

that is insane though- i would think a boxed bandai vec would be anywhere between 1500 and 2500 dollars... although the prices might have fluctuated some.

un

real.

Price on the Koukokusen has come down since a slew of them have been sold via various means in the last couple of years. You won't be surprised to learn I was the runner-up here.

Well as far as I've heard from everything the Netpune never made it out of the case mock-up stage, unless there was just an internal board setup or something. The Digital Press museum has one (or THE one, i'm not sure which).

In regards to the Sony SNES CD, it does exist, and has been found. Click Me (http://www.game-rave.com/psx/playstation_perfect_guide/snes_psx/index.html) There's a thread on assembler too about all the drama and out picture posting caused/who owned it bla bla bla.

Theres been some really nice stuff on the PlayStation front this year (Deuce and Madden 96), but since they've both been leaked and the fact that Madden was attempting to sell for a small fortune (and it's not worth it, by any means), I've been pretty turned off. I was more impressed with 04/05 and the 10 Million PS units that came out, not to mention the massive amount of Debuggers (that mostly came from Acclaim) that were out and about late last year.

Not that i'm complaning or anything. I still like to watch, even if i'm not buying.

For PS1 Maniac Moons and one other big title exchanged hands. Neither have been dumped yet as far as I know.
