Is there any good N64 controller? I can't stand the original Analog Stick, it's so bad :(

I hate the stock N64 controller as well.
The nicest lookiung N64 controller that I've seen, by far is this one from Hori:

Though I've never used it myself because I haven't been able to find one. It was only available in Japan and while a few places carried it as an import, they all seem to be sold out now. It was a available in a variety of colors.
In the absence of that Hori controller, this is the pad I use with my N64:

The Interact SuperPad 64. The layout is much better in my opinion than the stock pad (the three-handed thing is ditched and also the C buttons are bigger and more in line with the A and B buttons so they're more useful for most games since they were usually just used as standard buttons). But while the analog stick is quite a bit better than the regular N64 stick, it's still not nearly as nice as the Playstation or Saturn analog sticks. The digital pad is also less than ideal on this controller.
There may be some third party controller that keeps the same layout as the stock pad, but has a better analog stick if that's all you're after. Personally, I dislike the layout opf the regular pad as much as the analog stick itself, so I skipped over anything that looked like the regular controller.
There's also the Arcade Shark:

Which I think is actually a pretty good stick, though I'm not sure it could exactly replace the stock controller, even though it does have all the controls necessary.

Wow the Hori Controller looks nice!
The Interact SuperPad 64 looks like it`s very uncomfortable to hold and to play with. But just what the pic looks like.
Arcade Controllers are nothing I could use.
Thanks, will try to find the Hori one, but if there is a controller in the original N64 Controller look with a good Stick it would be nice too. :)

Personally, I use the Interact Superpad like in the picture. It's very good for what it is, although the analog stick is pretty sloppy...

It's not as bad as it looks, but certainly not as nice as the Hori Mini Pad looks.

WHere can I find one opf those Hori controllers? My Superpad 64 Plus (Like what's in that 2nd picture) is getting too worn out (I have to reset the joystick (Doing the L+R+Start thing) constantly)

I would love to get my hands on at least a pair of those Hori pads. The stick looks better than the original stick, and Hori makes quality equipment.
Shame they are so hard to find.

I actually think that the original N64 controller was nice. What don't you people like about the original controller?

Most people don't like the the control stick compared to the newer ones, like the gamecube, and xbox, and playstation control sticks. I like the N64 controller though.

I also like the original controller. The pistol grip was comfortable for analog games and the side grips were very sturdy for games that required the digital pad like the Aki/THQ wrestling games. The stick, while prone to wear, is tight when it comes to precision control. Playing F-Zero X and F-Zero GX for the Cube is a night and day difference control wise.
I guess I'll never understand why there was so much hate for the N64 controller. People got used to cranking their thumbs downward for the Dual Shock, why couldn't they get a grip on the "Pistol"?

How do you use the D-Pad on the Hori controller??? Sure many games just use the control stick, but not all. Is it just there so the controller looks complete, but is only suppose to use the control stick?

The pistol was fine, but I found the layout to be poorly designed. Why do we need separate handles for the d-pad and analog stick -- did Nintendo envision a bunch of games using the left and middle handles? What's with the C buttons?
I found the Saturn analog pad to be much better designed.

I might be able to get a few of these from Japan, but they are going to be costly. Probably somewhere between $50-$70USD. Apparently they are pretty damn hard to come by. If anyone is possibly interested, please PM me.
Thanks!

I have no problem with the design of the N64 Controller at all, it's just that the Analog Stick isn't usable. After some hours of gaming it's just broken (it wears out)
I really would like the Hori controller, but 70$ is too much for me plus that they would have to be shipped to Germany which isn't free either. :/
