since the other two systems are mostly for 3-D realistic graphics? I know SNK will support Wii more so than the other platforms. I'd love to see all of these obscure fighters and shmups that are mostly found in Japanese arcades come to Wii. I hope Wii will be the next Dreamcast and Saturn in terms of pleasing hardcore gamers with the software!
Also, since Wii will be the easiest to develop for, companies will have no problem porting over arcade games from Japan! I hope Capcom and other companies make all of these exclusive titles for Wii like they did for Dreamcast! I think companies can take chances on developing for Wii. The only problem about bringing fighters and shmups over to Wii is the controller. Then again, you can always use a Gamecube controller that will be pretty crappy for fighters. 8-)

I love 2D to death and Nintendo tends to target the non mainstream gamers now so who knows.

Nod. I cant wait for it myself =) I would love to get a PS3, but im sorry, im unwilling to shell out $600 for a system, and then pay $60/game on top of that.

PS3 games may even cost more than $60. That's a scary thought for me.

I don't think fighters and shmups will be a problem at all, IF they are designed to take advantage of the new control scheme rather than ported from existing games. For example, the speed with which you fling the remote could determine the strength/speed of the blows in a fighting game.
The problem will be if they port a traditional fighting game. It just won't be as good because people won't want to play it differently than what they know.
Shmups shouldn't be a problem because they usually don't use many buttons. Holding the remote on its side gives you three buttons for gameplay (1,2, and the one on the bottom) which works for most shmups, and that's not even taking into account motion sensing for other possible functions.

Well, if they do like all the nice 2D games on the DS and keep the clean, smooth images but make it much larger they are a real winner! I would like to see some great 2D side-scrollers, 3D shooters, sports titles that work off the motions of the controller, spectacular puzzle games, and of course platformers that impress us all around.

Yup, the possibilities are endless for the Wii...
Hopefully we'll get a proper controller for fighting games? I hope ASCII has something in the works. 8-)

An arcade stick would be amazing. I just hope a ton of arcade games make their way to Wii in order for that to happen.

Between the back-catalog of titles that'll be available via the virtual console, SNK Playmore's support and whatever first-party games Nintendo sends our way, the rest is icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

Really? I've thought that as of late their mission statement has been just the opposite due to all the talk from Nintendo about targeting the casual player. Making games a little simpler that can be played by everyone in shorter bursts vs. long hardcore sessions.
Eaither way it seems logical that the Wii will have more stuff akin to the arcades since most arcade games are designed around the idea that people will be playinig them for shorter amounts of time, not too many people spend 8-10 hours standing in front of a Tekken cab.

They could port Eternal Champions to Wii and replicate the Activator controls. LOL
