Ok, if anybody is within a 3 hour drive of Sacramento, CA, you should strongly consider coming to this August 12th bash. It's going to be a barbeque/retro game party. Everybody is encouraged to have their trunks full of trade bait, and we can have a nice little kick back party type thing. We will have full use of my Garage, which includes the 113 inch screen which I'm always raving about, and in addition to that, I'm hoping to have FOUR rgb monitor stations set up, all running a different system in glorious rgb. Everybody will be encouraged to bring your favorite games, and we can all kick back and let the good times roll.

The thing is, I need to know who is actually coming, and who isn't, so I can plan things accordingly, in regards to food and drink. Might be a good idea for everybody to chip in a little bit to contribute to all the foods and drinks that we will have on hand. I'm thinking hamburgers and hot dogs and brats and beer and soda and water and some other misc grub and beverages. Basically, we can make this whatever we want. I'm thinking that we should start the festivities off around 3pm, and the festivities will conclude around 11:30pm or so.

Now, one thing that I must caution people about is the weather. I have no idea what the temperature is going to be on August 12th. I'm thinking that if the expected high is going to be 97 or higher, that maybe we re-schedule for another Saturday. Reason being, I want this to be mostly an outdoor thing, in my backyard, and also in my Garage with the all the gaming setups in there. Problem is, I don't have air conditioning in the Garage, so that is somewhat of a problem. I do have some fans, and I might be able to borrow a portable air conditioner, and leave the door open that connects to my house, so that some cool air comes in from there, but it could be kinda hot for some of you San Francisco folks.

Anyways, if it's 96 or less, I say we go ahead and do it. If it's 97 or more, then we postpone it for late August or early September. I'll buy the food and drink the day before, and I'll be able to check the forecast on Thursday and Friday, and by mid Friday will say whether the party is on, or postponed till late August or early September

PM for any related details, and I'll continute to update this thread with any info relating to the gathering.

I had to change the date to August 12th because my mother in law is going to be using our home on July 29th for some type of party.

Also, regarding the weather, the bottom line is whether or not it's going to be triple digits. If it's triple digits that weekend, then I don't think it's a good idea. If it's less than triple digits, then it's "On like Donkey Kong". I will probably know by late Wednesday, August 9th if the weekend is supposed to be triple digits or not, so by Thursday the 10th, I can either say that it's on or off.

I'm almost certain that two of my closest DP members, Dojosky and JibbaJabba will be there. So we should at least have 3 people, but I'm hoping we have many, many more, so if you are interested, let me know.

That would be cool as hell to go to but I am nowhere near Sacramento. I am way down here in Southern California. Temperature never reaches 100s where I live thank god. Anthony1 I have a quick question for you. I was going through some of my old mags and I was reading an issue of Video Game Collector and in the front was a picture of the contributors and one picture was familiar. When I checked to see what article this person wrote it was about RGB! So are you a regular contributor to this mag? It is one of my favorites but always a bitch to track down.

I may be in LA in August and could be interested to go IF someone in the SoCal area is going and is willing to car pool with me. I'm not going to go alone with the long drive and the price of gas and all. I will of course chip in for gas money though. So if anyone is in LA/SoCal and is willing to go AND IF I am already in LA by that time maybe we can hook up and arrange something. Send me a pm or something or just post here and we can start communicating now and I will let you know if I will be there at that time for sure.

Sweet! I'm just in the Mt. Shasta area. Now if I could just justify the gas for the drive...

Unfortunately, due to this unbelievable heat wave, I'm cancelling my retro game party that was scheduled for August 12th. Sacramento has experienced six straight days of temperatures over 100 degrees and is expected to break a record, because we are going to have another 5 straight days of over 100 degree temperatures. Todays forcast is for 109 degrees!!!

The party isn't till August 12th, but it appears that this could be one of the hottest summers in History in Sacramento, and it will be hot as hell in August too. It will likely be hot as hell in September, and even into October.

Right now, I'm looking at maybe having something in late October. This really sucks, because I was really looking forward to having a nice big retro bash, with a barbeque and a rgb circle jerk! LOL Unfortunately, it will likely be 100 degrees or over on any date that I would schedule prior to at least late September. Even in September in Sacramento it can be unbearably hot, and it appears that this whole Global Warming thing might actually be real after all.

In late October, I would expect things to cool down considerably, so I'm looking towards late October to have a big bash. Heck, maybe it will be postponed all the way into early November, and we can make it a Wii or PS3 launch party, lol. If anybody near the coast in San Francisco wants to organize a bash sooner, I would be willing to head out that way and bring a few rgb monitor setups with me. But it's just too damn hot in the Sacramento area to be doing anything like this. Man, if this damn heat continues, I think I'm going to be moving to some other climate because this is just plain ridiculous.
