I was a beta tester for Everquest (PS2) and it was pretty good. But for some reason I can't bring myself to making the purchase. I just can't commit to a monthly fee with a game. Money isn't the issue, its the time invested in the game and the feeling that I would have if I did not play it.
Lets face it EQ is a game you need to devote some serious time too and with 2 kids and a mortgage to pay - I just don't have the time.
I asked in the various stores around me and they say the game is not selling well
anyone have the number of sales on EQ

also if you have a computer that is over 400mhz and any graphic card you might as well go with the computer Everquest as it is sooo much better and they are practiclly giving the original game away.

Yes, I'll agree, it does require a massive investment of time.. and energy, I spent 16 hours in 2 days getting to level 10..if you have kids, I can't advise it.

Have to agree with Raedon <shudder> If you have any reasonable computer, there is NO reason to play this on a console, even if they were both priced the same, it's better on a computer, easier, faster, better patching..... and with a KEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYboard
(I know, you can EASILY hook a keyboard up to your PS2, but I have enough cables running through my living room thank you. A keyboard is HUGE compared to a controller, and I'm not gonna go get it out and hook it up every time I start and finish playing a game)

I do not want to put the time in just not worth it.
Not going to pay $120 a year just to play it.
Much better on PC then PS2.

That's the way I feel about it too. I beta tested it, and even then I couldn't find a whole lot of time to play it. I played 4+ years of Ultima Online too. I don't have kids, but I do have a mortgage to pay, a wife, and a church I'm fairly active in.
For those interested, EB's now offering a broadband adapter/EQ package (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=520131) deal for the original cost of one BBA. I actually came oh so close to purchasing this (I would just resell the BBA on eBay) before resisting. That would lead credence to the theory that it isn't selling well...

I am gonna a few of those packages, just to resell them on ebay for like 60$.
Also I thought about getting the PC version, but if I got it, I would just be a level 1 n00b.....and witht he PS2 version, everyone is kinda a newbie...that's why I chose it.

I never really liked the game at all.Plus,i don't feel like paying a monthly payment in order to play the game.

Well, yes it does get kinda repetitive, fighting over and over, but me and a few friends play it, and we level up together, it is fun when you have your friends in on it! :D

I've been playing Ultima Online for about two years now myself, and I don't have any extra time to invest in another online game. If I didn't play UO, I'd probably pick up EQ though.

I liked EQ on PC but it became too crowded and too much like an addiction.

@ Queen of Felines, does Ultima online cost $$$ to play, and if so, how much?

When I quit UO last year (after playing for over 4 years), I figured I'd pick up something like Everquest too. I just can't bring myself to make that kind of time committment again though now that I'm out of college.
If Ultima Online 2 ever comes out though...
*still mad at UO2's cancellation* >:(

UO also costs $10 a month. Tritoch, Origin just released the "Age of Shadows" expansion, and you can now design your own house, make colored weapons, and a few other things. Too bad it's buggy as hell though.

You don't know how tempted I was to pick up Age of Shadows, but I'd have to start all over again as a complete newb. The fact that it's extremely buggy doesn't help. :(
At this point I'd much rather use the time for more constructive things, and continue to hold a daily vigil for the release of UO2. It's paying people like you that continue to prevent EA from granting my wish. Thanks a lot. ;)

Nah, even if they DID realese it, there would still be people to play the original, the people that don't wanna spend 40$$ on a new game... @_@
