17.5k @_@ @_@ @_@
Well.. that proves it. Sivarto said no1 would ever pay even 10k for it (or something like that). 18 months is mega long tho.

Yeah, 18 mos is kind of ridiculous. Impressive offers though and given the length of the negotiation the interest seems pretty serious.

As for sivarto, I don't think he said that no one would pay 10k for it, just that paying 10k for it today was probably not a good idea. I'm not sure what to think.. it's so far above what pretty much any other vg collectible is worth that I have my doubts about whether the price is worth it.. although it's getting harder to refute with the number of offers that seem to be floating around.

If someone offered you the same for your sealed stadium events would you say that? 17,500 is 17,500.

Whats the interest on 15000 over 18 months? same difference.

The difference is I'm not a bank. I don't want to wait eighteen months. Maybe the guy loses his job. Maybe the game is worth even more by the time the 18 months are over.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the game. Udisi got some great offers from the sounds of it and it certainly does lend credence between the offers he received and the offers you received that it is actually worth that much. Doesn't seem like a debate anymore, really. Good for udisi, good for you, good for dreamtr. Honestly happy for all three of you. All I ever said about the game's value was that it's not worth five figures to me; much like I told you in pm's that the sealed SE wasn't worth more than 4-5k to me, even if it was my #1 want.

I wasnt 100% sure what he said, thats why i said "(or something like that"). I checked the earlier thread and he said this:

Anyway,12k or more offers were fake offers you can bet that. If you read buyatari's post he wrote something I agree upon:there MIGHT be ONE crazy guy for a five fiogure price but that's it. Udisi could find him and sell for $10000 but the next gold cart could very well sell for its normal price of $5000...of course if the seller wants actually to sell.

That all to say that your advice maybe correct, but in the $6-8 range seems a whole lot more realistic.

If you pay today 10k on a NWC cart you will never come out ahead if you sell it,compared to the chance you could have invested those money. Also, yeah,if any of the NWC is forced to sell,he will take a lot less than $10k,sure thing 100%.

So he said that if you payed 10k for it now you would never be able to sell it for more. And for the "6k-8k is more realistic", for most people this might be the top offer yes, but this case proofs that there are some that are willing to go way over 10k. So it doesnt matter much if 99% "only" wants to give 6k-8k for it if some are willing to pay 10k+ Remember, you only need 1 buyer :)

I don't think the cart has a true stable value. really it's value is determined by the conditions present at time of sale.

Really I think the toughest thing about buying this cart right now, is that that most copies reside in the hands of people who either don't what to sell it or have no need to sell it. Hense if you want to buy it, you pretty much have to talk the owner into selling it. These conditions could change say an owner needs money quickly, you could probably get one cheaper, 8k would be good quick cash. Say I had my raffle and someone just got a cart for $25, who's to say that that person wouldn't take 6k for it as a quick profit.
As it stands now, I doubt you'll see one of these sell for less than 10k, and more realistically I don't think you see one sell for much less than 15k.

Udis (So when he said that it had been sold) was the offer dreamtr mentioned an offer that HE HIMSELF made you but you decline???

Thats kind of what I had thought when since he posted that it had been bought for the price of an r33 Skyline and went on to say its worth "way to much now!"

no DreamTR has his own, don't think he has interest in a 2nd at these type of prices, I was disscussing my offers with him and I was very very cose to pulling the trigger. I think DreamTR thought I had accepted one of the offers and jumped the gun a little. no biggie.

I say take it to CGE this year in Vegas and raffle it off there. By doing that, it'd be legal and I bet you could easily sell enough tickets at $20-$25 each to cover your expenses and get what you wanted for it.

Plus, doing the drawing live at a public event like that will reassure everyone buying tickets that it's legit and that they actually have a chance of winning.

Yeah, 18 mos is kind of ridiculous. Impressive offers though and given the length of the negotiation the interest seems pretty serious.

Over 18 months, to get $2500 interest on $15000 (for the total of $17500), one would need approximately 10.5% annual interest compounded semiannually (every 6 months). Or, $15000 x 1.0525 x 1.0525 x 1.0525 = $17488.70. 10.5% is a great interest return, but unless the buyer would let you hold the cartridge until fully paid, I wouldn't agree to it either.

yes I believe the interest was good too, hense why I was still considering it. My issue was more I didn't want to deal witht the hassle of the structured payment. I would have taken lower than 17,500 in a straight paid in full deal.

Well of course you're going to hold onto the cartridge until fully paid - in my opinion that's not really the issue. If I was selling the cart would change hands until paid in full, period.

The bigger issue is a lot can happen in 18 months. The buyer can change their mind, get into money trouble, whatever. Maybe he knocks the wife up by accident and decides diapers are more important than gold nwc's. Whatever. The point is its a hassle, its time consuming, and its uncertain. The only way I'd touch that as a seller is if all the payments were completely non-refundable if the buyer for whatever reason didn't pay in full, and even then I'd think twice. If you're needing 18 months to pay me $17,500 you're basically telling me what you can really afford is $1000/mo. In other words, this cart is probably well beyond your means. Which just implies a much greater chance of something getting screwed up between 18 months and now, not to mention that the guy is getting to lock in the price 18 months before full payment.

I.e. If you want the cart so bad, why not go to the bank and get a 15k loan at 10%? Why am I, the seller, your bank? Let's see, its probably because the bank would laugh their ass off if you told them you needed a 15k loan to buy a video game. Way too many chances of something going wrong - udisi considered the offers equal and I agree. The 18 month term is a big deal and for that reason the premium better be pretty substantial.

Spitting out ~$1000 each month might give the buyer 2nd thoughts about it.

Those deals woulda beat Kizuna Encounter Euro.

For the larger deal, I woulda taken it and used an escrow.

So under your terms (which are pretty much the same as I suggested) you can't lose. The guy sends you 5k and loses his job. You are up 5k and can sell the cart again.

exactly - that's the only way I'd consider it. But who knows if this buyer would have accepted that.

I had a similar scenario with CaptFalcon when I sold him the gold NWC for $6500 way back when. He had 6 months to pay, making a deposit each month on time, or I have the option of keeping the cart.

Norkusa: There is no CGE this year, and I think it would still be hard as CGE attracts about 1000 different people only, and udisi wanted only ONE person per raffle ticket.

???????

He said it here:

I'd like to limit to one entry so that everyone would have the same odds, but if it people would want cheaper tickets, I would most likely have to open it up to multi-ticket buys, to reach the number needed.

But I think he was just throwing ideas out there.

bah

sounds to me that he would go either way. To limit the number of tickets sold isn't a wise move. You know Bronty will buy 100 all by himself ;)

I'd definitely buy more than one. Probably $200 worth, depending on how much each ticket cost.

Never say never.

You have to be creative and anything is possible.

What if he had a Texas holdem tournament with this as the grand prize?

just one of a million ideas.

That was my thought after reading the raffle idea earlier in the thread. Only problem is, unless you get a bunch of idiots, no one is going to pay $100 plus bucks to play in a tournament with one prize. And trying to organize a tourney that makes you what you originally wanted for the game AND has a good prize structure would be almost impossible. The tourney would have to have a 250 buy in to make it work right. It is a good idea though if someone could figure out the math.

I see the topic was a hot one. I am the potential buyer, I wanted to clear a few things up here in respect to all the collectors out there as I join you all. The answer to " what if he loses his job" Never will happen, I own 2 video game stores. I just wanted to clear up simplely that my offer to pay $17,500 over 18 months was indeed a serious offer. I have no need to rip anyone or anything of that nature. I am a very passionate collector of nintendo as he himself has said, im a serious collector. all my life. the only reason i couldnt complete this in full at the moment was because christmas shopping will begin soon. i will need extra money for trade in and stock. i had all intentions in completing and paying for this game. please understand where i am comming from. as i do to you, this is the internet, we dont know who we can trust. i have 100% feedback on ebay. DreamTR can prove that and verify that im 100% legit.

thank you for reading this post. it was alot to discuss amoung yall because this is a big deal for a game. ( i had a holy spot picked out too) though if the bank wouldnt laugh, i would have did it that way. i hope to gain all your respect out there as im a long time collector. this is my first year into the big stuff. hope to learn alot as some of you are way past me in knowledge and what you have. though i am proud to say i have over 30 systems and 2500 + games personally.

have a good one ppl! ~ nexus

Welcome to the boards. Nice to hear from another of the parties directly involved :)

The answer to " what if he loses his job" Never will happen, I own 2 video game stores.

I don't think that's the point though - what if the stores stop doing well? Sickness in the family? Etc. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

But I get your point, you're saying you were 100% serious and that's cool to hear. So what are some of your favorite items in your collection?

Good luck on finding an nwc :) I'm sure if you're willing to pay good coin like that that you'll get one eventually.

cheers

there is alot i am looking for, so if anyone got rare or just cool things, toys and whatever by nintendo, let me know...
