I'm hoping that the Colecovision experts read this one.
I was looking at the rarity listing for the Colecovision system, and noticed that there was no listing for the Telegames version of Jungle Hunt.
Was this just an oversight?
If so, are there any other Telegames versions that the DP guide is missing?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

hi steve-
there are so many telegames releases of games that we didnt put them all in there... personally i dont know why wing war made it in there... it didnt make sense to me.
but anyway, 95% of the telegames releases can still be bought new from them- they own 2/3rds of the CV library, and arnt very collectible (unless youre a player or truly out there completist) so they were not included seperately.
i think jungle hunt can still be bought new from them for 30$

I wondered about that too. I might have to order Jumpman Jr. from them for my Jumpman collection (even though I already have the Epyx version). I guess I'm pretty far out there. :-D

Hi Willie,
I was hoping that you would take a look at that post.
So you are saying that over half of the games released for the CV were also released by Telegames? If that's the case - damn.
I was speaking with Thomas Keller (Toys in the Basement) who has a LOT of rare CV stuff on ebay, and he mentioned that there was a tornado or something that wiped out a lot of the inventory.
Not sure if this is true or whatever, just additional info.
It would seem, however, that if there were so many re-releases under the Telegames label, that they wouldn't be worth that much.
What about the games like Skiing - that were only released by Telegames?
Thanks,
Steve

*i get off in a tangent on this so please be warned*
yeah, you know some of those releases seem to be completely out of print for apparently no reason... i believe the out of print ones are boulder dash and skiing, but it might be boulder dash and amazing bumpman... regardless you can find out right on their website.
why in gods name would they not make those games any more?
it makes absoutely no sense...unless the game copyright was sold?
the games that were not released by anyone but telegames are definetely collectible!
anyway, yeah it appears that telegames did that. if you really want to smash your head into a wall, factor in that Adams House sells COPIES of every CV game... they even copied Kevtris for a while (so bootlegs of that exist- they have a black label). how adams house can make copies of games owned by telegames and sean kelly cannot MUST mean that adams house and telegames are somehow related. the weird thing is, they both label their games differently. adams house makes reproductions that can fool beginner and even advanced collectors. i almost got swindled by the guy that runs it right off when i started collecting again, and i know for A FACT that he is VERY misleading and will gladly sell you COPIES of prototypes for 100+$
all the while never telling you that they are in fact copies. perhaps that place just says screw it and ignores telegames completely...which is just plain wierd since i guess TG's has directly approched sean and asked him to stop making multicarts.
does anyone know what Adams House deal is? are they owned by telegames?

Crap - now I have to worry about fakes?
How in the hell can I tell the difference?

first you dont have to worry about many fakes... but there are some out there. the easiest way to be able to spot them is to know what the labels normally look like.. if it looks like it was printed recently it probably was... the labels on the adams house games usually have a flatter (less glossy) label. the most definite way to tell however is by looking at the cart connectors on the circuit board. its always nice to have a nomebrew (or a game that you know to be a repro) and compare the cart connectors to a donkey kong cart... the difference is instantly recognizable. the new style circuit boards homebrew and repro places use (telegames included) usually have silver looking connectors and the boards themselves just look NEW... the donkey kong on the other hand looks usually to have a slightly thinner circuit board and the connectors are gold. it may sound subtle the way i describe it, but when you compare the two directly it is very easy to see. almost all the time if the connects arnt gold then you have a newer style cart.
if anyone ever isnt sure with a game on the net just ask me im always here to help- keep in mind that finding a reproduction game is usually pretty difficult, and most sellers will tell you right up front that the game is a repro, so dont worry too much as you go hunting!

Ah, the great Telegames tornado story. Been a while since I heard that mentioned. ;)
Back around '95 or so a ton of Telegames product was flooding the market at drasticly reduced prices. Telegames Personal Arades (aka Dina 2 in 1) were selling in bulk in the $10-12 range, thousands of boxed Tournament Tennis & Motocross carts were floating around in the 50 cent range and various other items were popping up all over. The story at the time was that it was from a storage facility that was damaged by a tornado. Interesting part is that all the items I saw were in mint condition, right down to the master case boxes.

I have Galaxian and Dam Busters from Adam's House and IIRC they just say Galaxian in plain text on a black background. He lists them as being new carts. Yeah they're new carts, THAT YOU MADE. I like how he fails to mention that anywhere so you get all excited thinking you're buying a new in the box Qbert Qubes for $30. I think he's run out of original Coleco ADAM and CV stock and now just keeps making repros of software. He also sells copies of ADAM games with color copied labels, cassette inserts and manuals as new, originals. I don't get all upset about it because you can't buy it anywhere else and he's not charging more than $20 for a game so it's like a big racket.
Does anyone have for sale or know where I can find one of those Dina/Telegames systems at a good price like he mentioned they were selling for? Someone on this board said they saw them in a local store once that cheap. They said they would check for more but I never heard back from them. I saw a few cheap on Ebay a way back but not recently.

Does anyone know if there was ever an announced Jungle King game for CV? I don't know what the timeline was when exactly Taito was forced to change the game from King to Hunt and when Atari began work on the CV version. I wonder if there is an earlier proto of CV Jungle Hunt in King form.

keep an eye on ebay for the telegames arcade (aka dina) thats the only place ive ever seen them sell reasonably... usually about 40 or 50 bucks complete. i actually got 4 sealed Bit Corp Dina 2 in 1's on ebay for 35$ each... so there are deals on there.
i bought those off jerryG... a funny thing about that is Jerry said he sold hundred of the Bit Corp ones when he owned 2600.com.. i wonder where those all went? the ones i bought are the only ones ive ever seen.
as for jungle king that would be really cool, but nothing has turned up yet to my knowledge

What is the Dina?

the dina 2 in 1 (or telegames arcade) is a console that accepts colecovision games and sega sg1000 games. it has joypads like the NES did, and the keypad is on the console. the two units are exactly the same except the boxes are different. and i also think the labels on the consoles are different. i think telegames bought out all the Bit Corp stock at one point and repackaged them.

So, my next question is (of course) who is Bit Corp - did they put out software?
If so, for what system - what games, etc.
Thanks Willie!

Bit Corp did put out a lot of software for the Atari 2600 overseas... and there should be some software floating around for the ColecoVision.... unfortunetely it is complicated by Adam's House, who sells (or at least at one time sold) Bit Corp software with copied Bit Corp labels, so it looks legit if you dont know what to look for. We still arnt quite sure what the deal is with the ColecoVision Bit Corp releases, but I do have a Bit Corp flyer on my computer that shows Bit Corp boxes and cartridges for the ColecoVision-
The games they made (at least in mock up/prototype form) :
Meteoric Shower
Tank Wars
Cosmic Crisis
Strike It!
all of those are represented in the flyer- all with catalog numbers.
Suspiciously, I have seen a tank wars with a Bit Corp label that has a different part number. I dont know what that means.
