I'm shipping a box of 38 video game magazines and it's a very heavy box with all those magazines in it, and I'm trying to think of the cheapest way to ship it. The dude only lives about a 2 and a half hour drive from me, so I'm wondering if a certain shipper has a low shipping cost for shipping things that aren't far away.

Like UPS or Media Mail or BPM or Federal Express or somebody.

Media mail is probably the way to go with magazines,

I would ask him to meet halfway (1 hour 15 minute drive for the both of yall) If he really wants it, and doesn't even want to play the potential "get it lost through the PO system" game (which is rare, but for bigger items like this I always worry since it can't just be stuck in a mail box).... ask him to meet halfway.

Or even, tell him to go 30 minutes, so your drive is 2 hours, instead of 2H 30 minutes.

And while you're at it, you can spend some time in a new town, maybe even go game hunting. That's what I've done in the past, found some great deals (Like Kirby SuperStar at Game Crazy for five bucks! I later eBayed it for $23 or so.... double)

The trip, to me, is worth it.

Meeting in the middle would probly be the cheapest and most secure way ye. Offer him alittle for gas money etc, if you want to pick it up of course.

I'd be careful with media mail, magazines do not count, because of the amount of advertisements in them. That is, of course, if they check (which the normally don't).

USPS parcel post is probably the cheapest way besides MM, if it doesn't exceed their weight limit (which i don't think 38 mags would).

For such a short distance, you might check with greyhound. I went to college about 3 hours from my hometown, and I accidentally left my bookbag (with textbooks) at home one weekend. That's how my parents got my bag back to me, the very next day.
