Dunno if he posts here or if the pic has been shown here before.

nice huh? That'd suck though, if you wanted to play a game that is on the bottom of that pile =P

It's a nice chunk of games, sure--but hanging around Digital Press for a while has kind of jaded me to these sorts of things... I mean, he's probably got 600 or so in there--and they might even all be in good condition--but I'd be willing to wager it's not complete. On top of that, where are the boxes and manuals? The sleeves? Does he really store the carts bare like that, and is this photo--I pray--a trick in perspective? Nobody should stack carts that high without some kind of support.

It takes a bit more than mere quantity to dazzle spectators these days.

Looks to me like he just placed them on the floor and not stacked them against the wall to take the photo. I don't see anything supporting the bottom carts.

I'm impressed though, mainly because I only have 29 games for NES so far heh.

I don't care what you've seen 600 carts in a private collection is impressive. Actually, that many of just about anything is impressive.

How can you have that many carts and NOT have them in alphabetical order? @_@ And yeah, stacking them that high without support is pretty crazy.

On top of that, where are the boxes and manuals? The sleeves?

If I ever decide again to go after a complete NES collection, I am not going after boxes or manuals. Too much headache when some of the carts are hard to find as it is. The sleeves make storing the games a bit difficult if they aren't in their boxes. They add too much bulk to the one end of the cart, making them tough to stack, and they take up a lot more room on shelves.

I'll take the bare carts only, please. :)

Very impressive. Looks like every licensed release, maybe? I think that looks better than a complete collection, with the uniform shape and almost-uniform color of the carts.

I'm sure you've all probably seen this collection, and one of our members may actually be this guy, but here's a link anyways.

LOL I was thinking the same thing :/

Edit: Yeah, Club Ninja is RAD. (and right on this one.)

While I collect CIB games, 600 loose NES games is impressive none the less :)

So, I've actually got this problem with the "jaded gamer" (there's a reference there for the real hardcores, too) viewpoint that's come up a few times in the thread.

At one point, I would've looked at this and said "loose NES games, a dime a dozen, total crap". Then, there was a time a little more recently where I would've seen the same thing boxed and thought "boxed NES games, a buck a dozen, total crap". Then, there was a time even a little more recently than that where I realized "hey, people can collect what they want and how they want". Maybe 600 loose NES carts doesn't impress you - it doesn't get me off either - but someone collected those games in that way and is probably awfully proud of it. Why even make a comment about it if, to you, it's a pile of turd?

I don't sit here posting in every thread "Oh, you collect pityful console games. Pathetic!" I think it's worthwhile to treat the collections of others with a little respect, whether it's impressive to you or not.

Those carts may or may not be stacked on top of eachother, the carts could be standing up right and he could be looking down on them.

I'm jealous. If I ever saw that collection in my life, I would most def kick it over. Then giggle. Then leave.

Think about what it would be like to see this collection when the NES was in its prime- most kids would have had a heart attack. I think that's the primary reason a lot of people collect, to capture some essence of their youth or compensate for the fact they never had more than 10-20 of those games in their possession back then at any given moment. I know that's the case for me.

I just wish the NES had a larger ratio of good to bad because then I would stock up like that.

That's KREATIVEassassin's NES collection. He posts mainly on the NES General Board on Gamefaqs as far as I know. There are one or two other people there that have nearly complete NES collections.

:/ Jeez, ClubNinja. I didn't say--or think--anything disrespectful. Maybe you read my post with the wrong tone of voice. Please try again--this time with Lolo from Teletubbies--and see if anything changes... I did get your reference, though.

It wasn't just your post, Gideon. That said, I used the sugary-sweet voice for re-reading your post, and I guess I still see it as sort of a bummer sentiment. I don't collect NES games anymore, and haven't cared about collecting them in a long time, but when I look at that picture I think "Hey, that's cool - good for that guy!"

When I made my initial post on this one, I wasn't suggesting that you (or anyone else) was being malicious, just a little disrespectful. You could say "hey, that's cool" if you meant it - and if you didn't mean that, you could just not make a post. Regardless, it wasn't just your post, and it isn't just isolated to this thread.

And I don't think you're bad guy - especially given that you got the other reference.

I'm not into stacking games for permanent storage. I think they need to be accessible to play. I'll post my pix, which are not ideal, but at least I can get to most of my games without unstacking and restacking.

I dream of the classic library set-up with a stuff wooden bookcase rising to 15 foot ceilings and a ladder on a rail. My 7 foot basement doesn't need a ladder unfortunately.

I agree with this completely. Almost everyone threw away the boxes and manuals for any game console that didn't have cases that held the games (NES, VCS, N64, SNES, Game Boy..) and just the thought of trying to track down a sizeable number of these complete is gut-wrenching. It's not like CD games where you even need the box for anything other than taking up a lot of space.

On top of that, where are the boxes and manuals?

I got a shipment of 53 Gamegear manuals today. It was some of the most boring lecture I have ever had.

Hehe. I feel like a fool for not getting the joke, but I guess GG manuals have a lot of safety precautions in them? Eh, let me know if I'm even in the ballpark...

Also, thanks to everyone who quoted me to say, "Nah, there's no way I'm going for boxes and manuals with an NES collection." That attitude is exactly what makes it so miraculous when you do come across such a rare assemblage of hallowed relics.

Also, I agree ClubNinja, and you're still rad in my book. There is a pessimistic taste to what I said before. In my defense, though, this thread wasn't started by the owner of the collection. Were that the case, I would have responded quite differently. It's like, "Hey, check out my new girlfriend," versus, "Hey, check out this centerfold!" I hold the latter to way higher standards.

Hehe. I feel like a fool for not getting the joke, but I guess GG manuals have a lot of safety precautions in them? Eh, let me know if I'm even in the ballpark...

The "joke" is that (console) manuals are overrated. They are 20 pages of security precautions, pictures of the pixels you must defeat, a stupid background story and controls which you can figure out in one minute.

And yes, GG manuals contain a lot of safety precautions, and they're copied verbatim from other manuals, so you are urged not to use a back projection TV (on a GG?), stay far away from the TV (on a GG?), and to use a TV no larger than 14 inches (on a GG?).

I believe this is my first post here, but I couldn't not say something after stumbling across a topic where someone posted a picture of my NES games.

The games are only stacked like that for the purpose of taking a picture. That reason also explains why they're not in alphabetical order (something I'm very strict about). I stacked them up in front of a closet door and took a picture of them. Also, I keep them stored away in computer paper boxes in a closet. I used to keep them out and in tall wooden towers, where they were in alphabetical order, but I didn't want them to get dusty and I needed the space for my DVD racks.

I have a tupperware box full of manuals, but they really don't matter that much to me. Boxes, likewise, aren't of any interest to me. I appreciate the kind comments people have left, but I am sorry to dissapoint those who take issue with the collection. I'm afraid I collect carts only. That's all I really care to collect.

The NES games make up the bulk of my 1,900+ game collection. I am very aware of the amount of games other people have here, which was one of the main reasons why I signed up. I figured there were more people like me here than there were at GameFAQs where I have received a lot of flack for collecting games.

In any event, I'm glad some of you enjoyed the collection (and I'm touched someone even posted a picture of it without any influence from myself). Take care, my friends.

ahhh, good to see you post here KA. Yes, I was the one who saw your post and link, and decided to copy it here. How many NES games are in that picture? At the moment, I have around 126. All but 2 or 3 are cart only, the other couple has a box or manual, but yeah, for NES I agree cart only is my way to go too, not only because it's hard to find these things complete, but it also saves on $$ a lot too when you add it all up.

Anyway, great collection and you know what, lately I've been in an NES mood. I bought one this past April, but it was off the backburner because of my SNES passion, but lately I been wanting to get more and more into NES.

Your picture certainly helped!

Wow that is impressive. At the same time, how many of those games are actually worth popping into the NES and giving a go? For as many games that are in that collection, I'm willing to bet there's a good amount of crap in there. Not trying to diss the dude, just saying. Still, I'm impressed. :-P

In the pic, I counted 583 NES games, give or take 5.

Anyway, I counted 3 Zelda 1 copies there. Who's to say there aren't more repeats?

And for shame...they aren't in any particular noticeable order.
