View Full Version : July NAVA - Saturday the 29th - Be there, or else!

OK folks, time for the next monthly gathering of gamers, collectors, and fellow
deviants. As per our "pencil it in on last Saturday of the month" agenda, we're
right on target - it's JULY 29th, which according to my Girls of the Orient
Calendar is in fact the last Saturday of the month AND it's not a holiday.
Turnout should reach record-breaking numbers.
Last month was great, and if you missed it, you missed a shot at some truly
great swag. You missed a night full of classic head-to-head gaming on N64 and
NES. Observe the photos:
http://www.digitpress.com/images/store
WHEN: Saturday, July 29th noon to midnight
WHERE: Digital Press Videogames (see http://www.digitpress.com/store for
directions from anywhere)
WHAT: Bring your trade gear. Bring your "show and tell". Bring some games to
play. I can have just about any system set up for everyone. We've also got a
half-dozen coin-ops (we're almost there on the second Neo-Geo cabinet and a
Smash TV cab is on the way and should be in place by NAVA). Our internet gaming
center is free for NAVA attendees.
Get in on the summer fun and BE HERE on the 29th!
Beat you to the punch Vectorman :P
LOL
So, who's going and what are you bringing with you :D

Pfft. You know it was I who told you about the date earlier, yesterday I think. I was going to let Joe have it this time. LOL
I'll probably be bringing Oblivion for Xbox 360 with me, along with a guide for it, and some other miscellaneous stuff. I'm interested in other 360 games, specifically good ones with live multiplayer that I don't have.

Tell me about it. He wouldn't even take a box of nice condition magazines I offered him. Next time I'll bring them along again in case anyone wants it.
In addition to my other post I also have a Prehistoric Isle 2 MVS Kit in near mint shape I am looking to sell or trade. I won't be bringing it unless anyone here expresses interest. I'm not looking to sell this for too cheap either.

Really? Please refresh my memory :D
BTW...All PS2 and Xbox collecters get ready. I will be bringing about a hundred games with me to NAVA. Now before you get your hopes up too high, let me say that the games I will be bringing are not the best in the world, but if some of you are still looking for those filler/common titles and sports games I will have them cheap. Highest priced item will be $3 (for a sealed game) and all used games will be $1-2.
I will probably be bringing a few other things to sell/trade...some DS games (maybe a system), some PSP...mostly looking for decent Cube and Xbox games complete, so bring them if you have them.

Can I come?(hint hint, nick and chris, but mainly nick)
I will most likely be in attendance(i am deeply sorry for this, :D ) and will be looking for Game Gear games, Intellivision games + recommendations for games for it seeing as I just got one, TG-16 games(SPLATTERHOUSE), Neo Geo Pocket Color(Ocean Blue, but if it is new or complete and cheap its good by me) also, games to go along with the neo geo. Maybe some other stuff but I am unsure.
What am I bringing? I am unsure about this but I think that it will do what all of my trade stuff does, sit there the entire night. Examples of what may be in store, a dreamcast game, a virtual boy game, a genesis game or 2, a 32x game or 2, and I will decide what shall come with me to trade.
Sorry for the long paragraphs.

I'm interested! I think I owe you for 2 N64 carts as well, I don't remember finishing that deal off and they were in the store the next day.
There's been a boom of demand for SNES games here recently, interested in just about anything SNES. Except sports games.

Maybe someone can bring a small TV?

I'll be in the Big Easy, having a few drinks and enjoying (hopefully) my 20th High School Reunion. @_@
Even if the Reunion isn't a blast, I KNOW I'll be loving being back in my hometown, and off of work for a long weekend.
You guys enjoy NAVA up in the Northeast, where you have to suffer the indignities of modern life like functioning traffic lights and regularly scheduled trash pickup. I'll be 'roughing it' down south.
PS: If any of you like to dress up for work, check out www.Katrinaties.com - I just ordered a couple myself yesterday morning.
Seriously - have a blast - I'll see you guys in August.

Well, it's 100% confirmed that I'm going to this baby.
A girl friend (not my girlfriend ;)) are flying into New York City on Friday to stay the night there. Then, on Saturday, we are going to travel to Joe's store (somehow) just in time for the NAVA at noon.
Now, would anybody have any good idea's on how I would get from NYC to Clifton, New Jersey?
Would our best bet be to take a cab? Or would there be some sort of bus service that we could take to get there for cheaper?
Any help would be great.
Also, I'm going to be looking for the following things:
To complete my Sega 32X collection:
Pitfall (complete)
Mortal Kombat II (complete)
To complete my Master System collection:
Alex Kid in Miracle World
Dick Tracy
Galaxy Force
James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
R.C. Grand Prix
Sonic the Hedgehog (Euro release fine)
Strider (Euro release fine)
Lots of boxed/complete 7800 games. Practically half the library
Empty NES boxes or complete NES games
SNES and N64 games
And, most of all, I'll be looking to chill with Mr. Kid Ice and Mrs. GrandAmChandler.

Here's a bus trip for you:
Itinerary 1
Depart : PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERM [41ST & 8TH ENT](On 190 Paterson)
11:40 A.M
Arrive : MAIN AVE. & MADISON
12:18 P.M
Transfer
Depart : MAIN AVE. & HENRY ST.(On 702 Paterson - exact fare)
12:28 P.M
Arrive : VAN HOUTEN AVE. & MT PROSPECT AVE.

Hope that helps.

I don't recall the exact bus, but there's an NJ Transit bus that travels Main St in Clifton. Main Street intersects Piaget (the street Joe's store is on) maybe 3-5 blocks away from the store - it's an easy walk from the bus stop to the store.
Just be sure, once you get off the bus, you turn LEFT up Piaget (you want to be walking toward the WEST, away from New York City).
NJ Transit runs buses out of the Port Authority Bus terminal in NYC.
I'm guessing the bus fare will be around $6.

Thanks for the help guys.
I've been looking at that njtransit site. So it looks to me that I would go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal and take the 192, correct?
And that will take me to Clifton. Then I'd get off at one of the three stops in Clifton? Which ever is closest to the store, naturally. And probably take a cab to the store.
It looks like there is a stop at Van Houten/Broad street. That doesn't look too far from the shop, does it?
Cool stuff.
Looks fairly simple.
Thanks again for the help.

I've got one more question.
It looks like I'm going to be taking the 192 to the corner of Van Houten and Broad, which is actually only a little more than a mile away from Joe's store. However, I've been looking at maps of the area, and I guess I can't just walk there directly, eh?
It looks like Van Houten/Broad is on the other side of the Garden State Parkway. And the quickest way to get there would be to just hop on a cab to drive me down the Highway 46. But the cab ride would only be like 1 minute long.
So is there a way that I can walk this? Or should I just hop on a cab for 2 seconds?

Right now I am looking for Sega CD and Sega Saturn games. Even if no one brings any to trade, I'm sure Joe has a great selection! :)

Final Fight Guy for SNES (loose).
Dreamcast Web Browser 3.0, complete.
PlayStation Blast Lacrosse and Ogre Battle, both complete.

Another absolutely awesome event. Thanks to everyone who came. As usual I'm going to need some time to sort out all of the stuff I bought but I'm happy that both my collection AND the store's inventory got some nice additions yesterday.
I put lots of photos from yesterday online.

This past NAVA was a blast, as usual. I was glad to meet some people that hadn't been to the past few on top of hanging out with the usualy crew. It's too bad I can't make the next one, but my sweat glands think otherwise. ;)

I definitely had a blast.
It was really cool to meet all of you guys.
A big thanks to Kid Ice and Drexel for coming to pick me up (and getting lost) to bring me to Joe's store.
It was really cool meeting the guys. Joe, GrandamChandler and Vectorman especially.
John Hardie's antics are still making me laugh when I think about the stuff he said. Most notably, him saying: "Hey Joe, when do you think the forums are going to be back online?"
LOL
And a big thanks to Mike and his friend who were nice enough to drop me (and that girl who isn't black) at the bus-stop.
