Hail to the King, baby.
I was 5 years old when I discovered Duke 3D and its 2D prequels, and my friend and I spent hours playing them. THe funny thing was that we could never get past the second level in Duke 3D. I remember such classic lines as:
(when you flushed the toilet) "aah. Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. Oops, I'm all outta gum."
IMO, Duke is the greatest fps hero ever. Share your thoughts about these classic games.
PS: don't even mention Duke Nukem Forever :roll:

If I remember correctly you could also hit F5 or something and cycle through all his speeches.
Not to seem picky, but it was:
"It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum."

Have you guys played that side-scrolling Duke Nukem game that came out a few years ago? "Duke Nuken: Manhattan Project". I thought it was a really good side-scroller, especially in an era when you don't see to many of those anymore.

He said that at the beginning of one of the acts.. I think it was the third act.. rip-off of Roddy Piper in They Live!
As great as Duke's one liners are.. they were, sadly, all rip offs of mostly B-Movies. There were a couple originals... but nothing to great.
Still an awesomely fun game. =) Between this and Rise of the Triad I had fun times... sweet delicious bark mode.

As for Saturn Duke Nukem, it's one of the games I want for that system. I have most of the Duke Nukems on my other consules so why not the Saturn? Good times. ID Software is for sure the champion of the 90's shooters. :)

And its at the beginning of the 3rd Episode (when he arrives back on earth.
I love Duke3D and all, but i found most of the space episode to be rather boring and uninteresting. Some levels were interesting and fun (Tiberius Station) but most i felt were generic space levels.
The greatness was (mostly) in the levels that took place on earth.

Now here is a thread that I can relate too!
Man, I can't even imagine how many hours I put in playing Duke 3D and Doom. Every day after school with my buddy down the steet.
I can barely remember anything though. Of course, I still remember the boobies with the tassles on them. LOL

I have the disk at home, but does Duke3D run on XP? I do have a win98 box at home as well that Duke should run on. I definitely remember him saying that quote after flushing the toilet in the porn store.

You can get Duke3D to run on XP (with or without Dosbox), but i can't remember the name of the program.
I believe i have been able to get Duke3d, Blood, and Shadow Warrior. to all run.

You guys should download the high definition pack for Duke 3D. It's an ongoing fan-project where all the 2d sprites in the game are being translated to true 3D. It's simply amazing to look at, one of the better tributes I've seen.

Duke 3D was fun :D It was the first really.. adult game I ever played (No, Doom doesn't count. As there was no swearing or strippers it didn't seem nearly as sordid.) I even think that the DNF trailer that was released a few years ago still looks fairly cool in concept. Its a shame that all the non-PC 3rd person Duke games absolutely sucked, it's been too long since we've seen the Duke we know and love.
The earlier side scrollers weren't bad either, but I can remember getting to certain points and becoming very, very stuck.
My favorite line? "I'm gonna rip off your head, and shit down your neck" - which is exactly what Duke proceeds to do.
