I always had a soft spot for this relatively obscure game. I wouldn't say it tops Sonic, Shinobi or SOR, but it's fun little game full of character which happens to be overlooked by most. It was also released in 1993, in what I consider the best year software-wise for the Genesis (I think it did best with hardware sales too).

The premise is kind of stupid, chasing after a girl or getting an item for her, but it works with the frantic gameplay it delivers. The game is always in split-screen mode. Though you can play against the computer (and a rather good AI at that), it shines in two-player mode.

I also dig the graphic style. It's a very colorful game and the characters were also used in the Neo Geo game Spinmasters, no doubt an attempt by Data East to make them mascots of some sort. Music is also kinda catchy. Kudos to the musician(s).

Expecting a response to an obsure game so soon won't happen. You only gave 2hrs... :/

Well, I've played it emulated dozens of times and love the game. I haven't seen the little bastard in the wild yet and refuse to pay a cost of shipping greater than it's value on auction sites. :P So ya, great game. 2 Player is quite the little party too, it's like a wacky 2D Sonic race game.

Well, the bump seemed to have worked. 8-)

Fellow Shinobi and Ninja Warrior fan too, I see. :)

Well ya. :D

I've been working on some things at home and just got back on so I saw the topic sitting in the Classic of course. :) I'm sure there's others on here that have heard of the game and played it as well. It's not THAT rare of a game, just in my neck of the woods it's a hidden treasure.

Well, if no one else will talk about DD, maybe I can ask my fellow Shinobi fan in this topic a question to salvage this topic

I'm considering drawing a little something related to Shinobi, preferably based on Shadow Dancer or Shinobi III (RoS is overrated and anything that followed SIII is crap). Aside from covers and instruction manuals, I don't see a whole lot of Shinobi art from that era. If you can point me to some ressource material I am missing, I would be grateful.

But hey, if you've got a wish list for such a fan-art project, I'm all ears too. :)

Yeah, I think it's a decent enough game. It gets a little boring after awhile and it's hardly what I'd consider amazing, but seeing as I only spend 50 cents for a loose copy I really wasn't expecting to be blown away. [/i]

DD is on my want list; I will eventually get it. My bud (maybe it's you? lol) recently got this game for 50 cents he told me, along with Combatribes.

It would be cool to see some more of if out there. I haven't played the newer Shinobi games because I don't have those newer systems. My favorite however is the Shinobi 3 on the Genesis. I liked the flow, sprites, combos, and sound. I also enjoyed playing the handheld I & II for the Gamegear. I somewhat feel bad that I like the SMS original over the arcade. :/

But ya, feel free to. Be sure to show it off sometime so we can all see it!
