View Full Version : Toys R US clearance

Massive discounts going on. Picked up today F-Zero GP Legend (GBA) for $4.98, King of Fighters EX2 (GBA) for $10, and Rayman DS for $10. That's not even the surface.
While I was working, I marked down close to a hundred different titles today alone. All the consoles have ridiculously low prices on their games. I can't even begin to list the stuff. It's a total "your store will be diifferent" scenario.
Thanks for this!! How long will the sale last?

It's clearance, so as long as it's in stock.
Will these games be out in bins and/or on shelves, then, rather than in the stock room with pickup slips?
Never hit up a TRU clearance before.

Depends on the store. Ours are all tagged by the tickets (we still do it the old fashioned way unlike the remodels with a true R-Zone).

Hey guys, I popped over to the CAG forums and found the list. Keep in mind that TRU has a tendancy to keep knocking down things until they're sold. Fine man, that Geoffery.

Hmmm...not too bad. Nice list, but with the chance of prices going lower I'm happy to gamble and wait a while. Already went overboard with CC.
Hmm now that I finaly got a DS today I may have to check this out.

I'll try to get Tokobot for $15; even though I don't have PSP, I want both it and the game, and that's a darn good price. Psychonauts at $15 is another must-buy, as are a few of the GBA deals (Castlevania Double Pack, Puzzle League pack).

I completely missed out on the CC sale. And I just got a DS and am LOVING IT. The classic NES series games are worth the $5 a piece to me. I think I'll head over to TRU on my lunch break.
I'll gamble and wait for the prices to drop on the other games.
Here's hoping my TRU isn't behind the times as usual.
And just my $.02... I HATE the R-Zone. I missed the classic long isles and display cases from the late 80's early 90's!!!!!

PS2 Taiko: Drum Master (bigbox w/controller) 19.98
also if you like rythem games,ie donkey conga, they have the extra bongos for 14.95.
I found everything I wanted at the TRU near me except for suikoden tactics

They didn't have any of the GBA Nes Classics at my TRU.
But I did pick up Soul Caliber 2 (xbox) for $5 and F-Zero GP Legends (GBA) for $5. All in all, not bad.

Picked up Castlevania Double Pack, and I'll probably go back tomorrow and pick up Path of Radiance as well.
Also on sale at my local TRU for NDS, YMMV:
Ping Pals $9.98
Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee/Battleship $14.98
Prince of Persia Battles $19.98

The TRU closest to me had quite a few clearanced games, but what really struck me were the toys on sale. I picked up 3 huge K'nex pirate ship amusement park ride things for $10.48 each, which is like 80% off.
I may go back in a few weeks to get Fire Emblem:SS, since it was only $14.99.

Thanks for the list Mr Roboto. My Toys R Us is 30 mins away so by the time I get there most of the good stuff will be gone
Wonder if this deal works online?

What's with these clearance sales lately?
Nearest TRU is like a 30 minute drive, so I probably won't be getting there.

I stopped by our local Toys R Us last night and bought Final Fantasy XI with Harddrive. I couldn't care less about FFXI. Been there, done that...twice on the PC....I just wanted a harddrive. I also found Puyo for the DS. I wish I would have picked up Advent Rising and Fire Emblem. Maybe I'll do that after work.

You could just stick a PC HDD in it. That's what I did.

I went to my local TRU last night and it was pretty cleaned out, but I was still able to pick up some great stuff, especially Psychonauts, which seems to disappear every time its clearanced anywhere around me. Thanks for the info!

Last night I picked up the Doom 3 CE and Baten Kaitos for $25. Today I went back to pick up a copy of TK Drum Master and while I was there I picked up Psychonauts (last copy.. wheeee!) and noticed that MGS 3 (which I don't have) was listed for $19.99. When I got to the register.. it rang up for $14.95 though. I love surprises like that.
BTW.. that listing of Taiko Drum Master w/drums.. should be w/drum (as in singular).

I broke down and picked up ff hard drive.
Also while I was there the lady informed me that the Ps2 Horizontal or vertical 3D Surround subwoofer Sound System. Was on sale for 19.99.
I didn't pick one up (I already have a sound system) Don't no how good but for 20 bucks. If you don't have a sound system for your game system this might be the way to go. Bring them explosions to life.
A sound system will definately enhance your gameplay experiance.

Thanks for the heads up! It was a good sale with some games I truly wanted from my must-buy list. I did my shopping 3 days ago and got pretty much I wanted.
Romancing Saga $15
Suikoden Tactics $15
Oddworld Stranger $15
SSX on Tour (Xbox) $15
Serious Sam II $10
...and then I picked up a Twisted Metal 3 and 4 for $5 each. I couldn't resist.

Hah, yeah saw that at my one as well. In the end though, because they were so poorly reviewed and I need to play through the first one again, I passed on them.

Depends on the store. Ours are all tagged by the tickets (we still do it the old fashioned way unlike the remodels with a true R-Zone).
Whaa...? Was your TRU caught in a time warp?! LMAO. As far as I know, all the TRUs in Massachusetts were remodeled and have RZones, at least the 3 I've been in.
I don't know which way I like better. The ticket system equalled less shrink, but there was always the idiot who made too many tickets and there'd be tickets out there for out of stock games. The RZone needs a lot more maitenence but at least there's more for me to do and I'm not just sitting at the pick-up booth bored out of my tree like some of my older co-workers said they were in the past.
Yet again, someone beats me to the punch with the clearance announcement. Then again, I'm never on DP anymore. So far I've only bought FZero GP Legend. I'm waiting on some of the others, however they'll probably be long gone before they get marked down further. Clearance flies off the shelves at TRU, even if it's only, like, $29.98.
Unfortunately, it's hard to find a TRU in some areas because they had to up and close 75 of them, inlcuding MINE. But, after a shitty 2 months at GameStop, I went back, this time at a store thats 17 miles away. It's only a 15-30min drive on the highway. Unfortunately, it sucks in traffic and bad weather. But, I needed more money and more hours and couldn't wait around to hear back from any other job. I knew I'd get hired in an instant at the Peabody TRU because they were looking for more help and the director used to work in Medford with me and held me in high regard. But so many areas, including my own hometown, went from having a Toys R Us right down the street to having to take the highway. And it's a shame, because the Medford TRU was probably one of - if not THE - most highly regarded store in the district. *sigh* Could be worse. I could still be trying to pay bills on $7 an hour and 4 hours a week at GameStop. What a mistake on my part. Taking such a huge paycut just to stay local. At least I rectified that fast.
Well, anyway, anyone in Massachusetts trek up to the Peabody TRU and I'll hook you up with whatever we got left for clearance. We still have plenty of copies of FZero, Xevious, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones and Path of Radience, and 5 FFXI hard drives, to name a few of the big titles. I'm pissed we only had one copy each of Ninja Gaiden:Black and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and they sold a day after they were marked down. But, we still got lots of good titles. And an RZone associate who knows her shit.
