View Full Version : A quick and dirty way to display arcade marquees

I've had an X-Men Vs. Street Fighter arcade marquee propped up against my entertainment center for about a year now, and I've been trying to figure out a way to hang it on the wall without having to get it framed or damage it with nails/tape/etc. I finally figured out a very cheap way to do it.

I took two nails and pounded them about 3/4 of the way into the wall. After making sure they were even, I set the marquee on top of them. I then used two more nails and hammered them in just slightly above the marquee. The two bottom nails acted like a shelf, and the heads of the two top ones held it in place. There's enough room that if I wanted to temporarily take it down for whatever reason I'd just have to slide it out instead of having to remove the nails first.

The result looks pretty damn good, with the marquee flat against the wall and the nails are barely visible. Of course, the only drawback is that you'll have holes in your wall, but it's better than nothing. :)

I did the same thing to hang my Eagle marquee on the wall, only I used drywall screws.

I just use tape on the back side for the plastic marquees, but I've had the few glass marquees I own framed for hanging (Black Widow, Space Duel, Tron).

You should get a X-men vs SF cab to display that marquee in. :-D

I've got a few marquees but I'd rather have it light up. Maybe I could get one of those panel light normally used with drop ceiling, mount it on the wall and mount a number of marquees on the light.

I have Nintendo Duck Hunt, Sega Choplifter and Krull (all were cheap) and I plan to get my hands on both version of Tron marquees (original and Disc)

Admittedly this will RUIN your marquee's collectibility, but I don't really collect them - except for display purposes. So as Jaime mentioned, I put big wide strips of velcro in two places on the back, and two on the wall. When I get a new marquee, I put the strips in the same place. So I have about 20 marquees now with velcro behind them, but it allows me to change the look of this door when the mood strikes.
