I apoligize if this topic has already been discussed but i am hoping to get some help here. I found a site online where somone is burning famicom games on EPRoms after they have been translated into english but it seems awfuly expensive. I was wondering if someone could explain to me what i would need to do this myself?

an eprom burner, eproms, the knowledge of what games can go on what carts, the knowledge of how to split up rom files in to chr and prg, the knowledge of how to rewire a cart, desoldering and soldering skills, time, sometimes a dremel.

So, what is the best source for the first two of those things.
And, do you mean EPROMS, or EEPROMS?

At the risk of sounding rude (which I am not trying to be at all), I would speculate if anyone here knew how to do it, they'd be making the expensive money selling them. Don't take it the wrong way, it just seems to me that you are asking for a lot of info that no one really has. I don't think anyone here is trying to blow you off. I know very little about the logistics of burning new games on to old carts, but anything I can come up with I'll be happy to share with you, which I am fairly confident is the sentiments of all DP'ers. We are all here to help and share knowledge to make the virtual world of video games a happy and more enjoyable place for everyone. Unfortunately, sometimes even we don't have all the answers to make all the dreams come true. But, anyone here will definitely help if/when they can (at least, that's been my experience). Cheers!!

actually for me it's more of the reason that the last person I started teaching how to make repros sold a repro of earthbound (that he had not made himself) on ebay with a $200 reserve.
It was at that point that I stopped helping him and decided that I'm not in the teaching business for now since it can be misused so easily.
I taught myself by reading up on eproms first. Then I read up on past conversations on nesdev (along with some of the docs on the main page). Once you understand the nes circuit boards and the eprom and rom pinout difference it isn't too difficult.
If you want to learn for yourself, it just takes time and research.

It lloks like a similar thread by you is posted on NESdev. That's probably your best bet for something this technical. :)

I can appreciate your stance here. I am not really looking to make profit off this - I am simply looking at it from a collector standpoint and trying to save myself some money in the process. Funds are a little limited and i would rather have the knowledge of doing this on my own.
