Mega Man X4: Saturn vs. Playstation

I've done a topic comparing the Saturn and Playstation version of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. I thought I'd make a topic that compares Mega Man X4 for these two platforms since I rebought X4 two days ago after selling it a few years back. It's the only Mega Man game that I've played that I really like. I first bought this game in Summer 1999 like Puzzle Fighter (what a great summer). So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Has anyone noticed any noticeable differences? 8-)

X4 on PSX and Saturn are more or less identical really. Unlike a lot of the Saturn ports Capcom did no extras were added at all.

I have it for the Playstation and Saturn and both are pretty much identical to me. Since I'm more of a Saturn fan I'm bios to its flavor.

strange, i just got finished playing this game on the saturn. like everyone else said, they're the same. i think the saturn version cost me about 3 times as much on ebay though.

Yeah, its kind of too bad since Capcom added Cutman, Woodman, and better Tengu Man music to the Saturn Rockman 8, but no love for Saturn X4.

I absolutely love the music in X4. Are the loading times the same in both versions? I know that may be hard to determine but I remember someone mentioned this in another forum a while back.

I have a question.

What version of MMX4 does the song "Makenai Aigakitto Aru" play on? I'm pretty sure it's on one of the Japanese versions, is it an opening or ending song, and is it on Saturn, PSX, or both?

I bought the U.S. version PSX for this song (thinking it would be on there), but found out it had a generic rock intro :/

That would be any Japanese version of the game, IIRC.

I'm almost positive the Saturn version had an extra feature that wasn't included in the PS1 release, though I'm not too sure what it was. Maybe it's the extra color suits Zero and Megaman got when you entered in a certain code in the start up screen?

Zero's black pallete swap is in the PSX version of the game, as well as X's Ultimate Armor.

Yeah, you can have Zero in a black suit. I liked the U.S. intro in the game. I found the music to be very catchy.

Hmmm a change that was actually worth it imho...the JPN Rockman X4 intro is too jolly...makes me wanna bust out the DDR...
