I sure do, I'd like to point them out, the dumbasses of the collector world who make it harder for the rest of us to find decent and rare items....I work with this guy named Jeff, he claims he has 380 NES games and 260 Atari 2600 games.
Yet when he asked me what I had and such, he offered to sell me a Dreamcast and a Saturn, saying he had no use for them, not even hooked up or tested...He didn't even care for the SMS he said....When asked about Genesis, he said he only had a few dozens...
Yet he did admit to having two Seseme Street controllers for NES....*Shaped like a calculator* apparently...
The conversation would have lasted longer if it wasn't for the fact he's a retard for saying Saturn and Dreamcast wasn't worth much to him.
You can show me all the NES games in the world...but if you say Master System wasn't worth your time...I seriously mock you a 2nd time Mr. Jeff...
Seriously, who told these people to collect?

I wouldn't read too much into it. I have met several collectors who have no use or love for newer systems, and they are collectors who love gaming just the same. They are missing out in my book too, but they are just bigger fans of certain systems, or eras. Just because I like to play obscure Japanese imports and hidden gems doesn't mean everyone does.

The topic post was the dumbest thing I read today. OH NO HE ONLY COLLECTS NES GAMES WHAT A MORON. Shut the hell up and let people collect what they want. I don't mock you for not collecting everything I'd like to collect.

I don't see the big deal. To each his own. As long as they collect something, it's all good. :rocker:
Now I do have a problem with people who throw away their game boxes (ie, SNES, NES, Genesis, etc.). Those people should be mocked. LOL

BOOM headshot!
I pretty much agree here, let them collect what they want. Some people have strong opinions, like the person "The worst Nintendo system" thread saying they just dispise the N64, and has no reason; just hate it! Just let it be, that's just an additional N64 and some games for someone else to collect and play that does want it.
Now, the people I can't stand aren't those that hate genres, certain systems, or what not rather those that are just clueless to everything. I stumble across people that trash talk games they've never played (read that other thread) or act like they know what they're talking about. Most of them are found in GameStop and electronic stores, which is understandable because they ARE trying to sell something, and attempt to give some reasoning. By any means though it can be annoying.
Also, those "hardcore gamers" that never heard of dirt common games I see all the time can be someone lame. For example, who the hell has never heard of Ninja Gaiden that collects NES titles, and been doing it for years, ontop of that are over 25yrs old?! I get amazed at those people.

If I'm walking through a store and see Saturn or Dreamcast games, I don't even look at them. Similarily, if I'm looking in somebody's for sale thread here on DP and they have a list of Saturn or Dreamcast games, I also skim right past them.
I virtually know nothing about those two consoles, and it's not becuase I'm a 'retard.' It's just simply because I don't like those consoles (for whatever reason), and I'm more focused on Nintendo stuff.

Actually, that wasn't the topic, it's what you precieved. The fact is, when you don't give a system a try, leads you to being a moron.
Because, as I said, You can show me all the NES games in the world...but if you say Master System wasn't worth your time...then I mock you for not giving it a chance, yet respect you.

Okay, I'll say this again, I'm calling this guy a retard for not giving the other systems a chance, that's just stubborned.
Which reminds me, when in the hell did this thread aim towards all collectors? I'm just talking about a hard-headed guy and asked everyone to share their stories of people similar to that.
I use the word retard to describe his hard-headed ways. Yet firmly respect him for his NES collection.
So before you all go "OH NOES" and try to slap me, think about what i'm trying to say here.
If this is taken out of context or not understood, please lmk, I'm more then willing to explain if it's not detailed to death like Anthony1's threads.

Damaramu got it right, even if I find this guy retarded, to each his own. Doesn't make him a bad person. Just find it hard to just ignore some of the older or newer systems.

I read the first post the same way. You came off as an ass, sounds like you didn't intend that ;)
I buy lots of stuff I have no interest in, then I sell it or trade it for something I want.
Did you buy the Saturn and Dreamcast?

KF thanks for being honest and I apologise to everyone, as for the Saturn and DC, no, simply because he told me they were untested, plus he wanted $20 each.

Not a bad price for around here. Stores sell DCs for $20-25 and SATs for $30-40; some places cheaper, but that's the main stores. They use to have DCs for $10 with all wires and controllers and I bought up a bunch of them, they learned real fast to not sell them so cheap. LOL

Actually Jumpy you are a retard (LOL) and sometime in the very near future, I know for a fact that you'll be buying my spare DC games. I'm of the opinion that everyone likes what they like and I respect that, as long as people like something, the hobby sustains itself. On a slightly different note and probably an old topic, don't you just love when uninformed people/sellers call everything north of Duck Hunt "Rare", it just makes me laugh.

The only thing keeping me back from purchasing it, is it's untested since he bought it from a flea market. I've had bad luck in cases like that.

I think the message is that ignorance is stupid as shit.
I see it everyday.
"The 360 sucks!"
"You've played it? Didja try GRAW yet?"
"What, no. I don't want to play it. It's gay"
"Totally, I saw the 360 having mad sex with that other male 360"
People acting like consoles they have never even played on are trash, are ignorant morons. But without them, who would I have to mock in this world? Oh yeah, about 75% of the internet that suffers from having 3/4 a brain, which those people probably belong in.
*Let's make non-serious issues.. SERIOUS!* = The internet

I have never even thought about saying anything to people about how wise their choice(s) of console are. I know there's a large number of consoles out there I haven't had a good crack at, and a number that I want that I don't look at games for because I have no way to play them.
Any enmity I have right now is for console manufacturers, not the equipment.
With that said, I still have trouble wrapping my head around the fact that my brother, raised in the same gameplaying environment I was, tends to look down his nose at retrogaming, claiming that the games bore him. I think the oldest games I can get him to play with me regularly would be PS1 games, and that's only because I have Bushido Blade.

That's not the point.
People that won't give certain consoles a chance based on preconceived, persumably negative, notions of that certain console , make those people morons.

That sounds like me actually. I'll buy a game that I have no interest in, and try to sell it for something that I'm looking for. Lately I been finding games that are in demand for cheap and sell them for profit.
I'm already thinking about selling my copy of Viewpoint for the PSX. I just got it today for $5 complete. Since the gameplay were ruined, I'm thinking about selling it or trading it. Maybe a Wonderswan Color would be nice.

I don't know too many stupid collectors. There are many that I don't like and a few that I don't respect or understand but I don't go around accusing them of being stupid.
Of course, there is this one guy I heard of. He'd always use ellipses gratuitously and he even thought that "stubborned" is a real word. He also believed that people who thought differently than him were less intelligent since he had delusions of grandeur thereby believing that his thought process was infallible. He also liked using British variants of certain words even though he lived in the US.
He'll also try to make collectors he doesn't like sound like jerks because they're known to make it harder for other collectors to find decent and rare items (as though that weren't true of all collectors).
I can't quite remember the guy's name, though. I'm sure that it'll come to me sooner or later.
