Hi all,
I bought this display off ebay with no base and no inserts.

I need to replicate the base of this unit but I don't have the dimensions to do so. My goal is to get an exact replica made so my display will be indistinguishable from a factory one. The things I need are these:
1. Overall dimensions, length, width, and thickness.
2. Distance from the rear of the plate that the actual display is mounted.
3. The degree of the angles on the front of the plate.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Didn't you post about that over on the PlanetVB forums? I thought someone was going to help you out... if not I can probably get you some measurements off mine.

Yep that was me. I got several offers for help, but no one came through. I was even willing to pay for one member to make an exact replica off his display on a cnc plasma cutter.(he threw the offer out there, I was just looking for measurements) After no replies I figured it was better to look elsewhere than continue bumping the thread relentlessly.
As always I would be eternally grateful for any help concerning this.
Ah... okay, I'll see what I can do... I'll try to take some close-up pics and measurements tonight and I've actually got the inserts with me at work, so I'll scan them in on the large scanner, and you can go to Kinko's or something and have them printed.
Can't help much with the actual cutting of the metal though :P .

Alright... I haven't gotten a chance to get the art on the scanner yet, but here are the measurements. Sorry, I don't have any sort of CAD program on my computer so I just threw it together in paint. All measurements were taken w/ a tape measure, and none of the numbers have been actually checked using any sort of math, geometry, etc, so you may need to fudge them a little to get it just right :P .

And here's a few pics of the base just for reference.

Well that's pretty good, but I was expecting a better diagram.... :P
Seriously man, thanks a lot! That is way above and beyond the call of duty. Now all I need is the inserts and I'll be in business!
BTW, are the inserts 2 sided or just plain on the back?
Again, thanks for your help!
They're 2 sided... one side has the actual ad, the other side is pretty plain with just a logo. My ads are actually printed double sided, but a friend of mine has some that are printed double sided and some that are printed on a single long sheet and folded in half (but original, not a copy).
So, whatever is cheaper/easier for you is what I'd do. I've got a large scale printer at work, but it prints off a roll, so double sided is difficult, but printing a long sheet is easy, so that's how I'd do it.

Cool. I think I'll just take scans from both sides and let kinko's work out the best way to print them out.
Cool... sorry, I didn't get a chance to scan them in at work (actually had real work to do :( ), so I'll have to do it Monday.

Any progress on the inserts DogP?
Argh! You know... every single morning I wake up, see my VB w/o the inserts (because they're at work) and I think... ah! I gotta scan those inserts today. Then I leave the house and never think about it again until the next morning :P . I'll try to remember to scan them tomorrow (er... today).
The problem is also that I can't really scan them in the middle of the day since there's always people printing/copying stuff, and I'd look pretty weird sticking a 20+ inch piece of paper onto the scanner when people are around. I did that the one time... I was scanning a bunch of Neo Geo mini marquees and one of my co-workers walks up to me and starts talking (she didn't care, she does non-work related stuff at work all the time too)... then the VP walks up to her and starts talking and they're standing there for like 5 minutes talking about random stuff... me being an IT guy, I just pretended to be working on the copier, but she knew what I was doing and I'm guessing the VP figured I was screwing around... luckily he's cool anyway, but it was still kinda uncomfortable :P .
