My Sega CD model 2 likes to make a lot of noise on certain discs.
Some work fine. Others sound like they're scraping around in there and some click about quite loudly.
I don't notice anything really (the black circle you lay the cd upon seems to look crooked, but I think it's how it is supposed to be... unless not).
Any suggestions?

I have this exact problem too, its really weird. I suddenly started randomly one day, sega cd had been sitting in the same place for a while not doing anything, and then I used it and it decided to start making scraping noises out of nowhere.

Are the discs getting scratched at all? If you lay the disc on the spindle and turn it with your hand, can you hear the noise?
Do you mean the spindle that the disc rests on (and is connected to the motor to make the disc spin) is crooked? If so, I'd guess the spindle has dropped down (at least partially) for whatever reason. I've never had this happen on a Sega CD, but I think it does happen every once in a while. (I'm not certain, though. I seem to vaguely remember reading about it.)

Yeah, the spindle attached to the motor. It only seems crooked when the sega cd is together, but looks perfectly aligned when I took it apart. None of the plastic is warped or anything.
It sounds like the scratching is coming from the top, like the top is too close to the cd and getting scratched.
but it only works on some specific discs. It's odd. Some will run smoothly, while the others bump and grind. and it's always the same discs and always the same effect each time.

Maybe some of these discs (The ones that make the noisies) Are a bit thinker than others.
Also, maybe the screws on the Sega CD are tightened too tightly. I tightened the screws too much on NES systems and the spring mechanisim wouldn't work because it was hitting the plastic.
