I was checking my local craigslist listingss for Atari items when I saw this. This guy claims to have a working Atari Cosmos prototype, and wants at least $30,000 for it.
Now, a sharp eye such as mine immediately recognizes that the picture in the ad was taken at a CGE museum. A quick google image search lets me know that it was taken during CGE 2001. Notice how the guy says "Oh, Also I'm not going to take any pictures of it next to the toilet or any silly thing like that." Since he doesn't actually have the item, how can he take a picture of it anywhere?
He says that he is going to delete the listing today, so I'll save the pics and html code and host a copy of the page on my site.
What a goof.

"I dont want to hear from morons saying they will western union money to me. Dope ass scammers." O_O
Not to mention this person has some HORRIBLE spelling, grammatic errors, AND TALKS TOO MUCH LIKE THIS. Feels like a clown posted the ad, or some 12yr old. In addition, the typical "gas is expensive" line and needing cash? If this poster really could afford to stumble across it then gas would be considered pocket change, the real issue should be credit card debt or late payments on the mortgage.

$30,000? As long as we're not selling anything real, I'll pay $50,000. I got some of that monopoly money laying around here somewhere, where is it.....
What a dumb scammer. I love his "dope ass scammers" comment, since he knows so much about said people. LOL
He says he'll start it at $30.000, but at the top of the page it says Atari Cosmos - $30. I'm not familiar with craigslist at all, but that kind of contradicts with what he says. Not that any of it is true anyway.

Comedy Gold. I haven't seen a scam this audacious since the NES Zelda III prototype.

That's actually a common tactic on Craigslist, to get people to look at the listing. The title will say "BRAND NEW IN BOX PSP MUST SELL $1" but then you open it up and it says that they want $200. It's kind of stupid, because of course they don't want a buck for the thing, but you'll still click the link just to check.

I see the same thing on Ebay all the time too. :(
With Neo Geo Pocket Color games, the VideoGameDiscounters guy is freaking annoying. He has the most auctions for that system and lists them as "COMPLETE NEW!" and when you check it out, BOOM... it's cart and plastic case, no box or instructions. That's a huge letdown since, like I said, most of the auctions are his!
But anyways, the other issue I have are those that say free shipping and when you check it out, $14 charges. Listings like that should so be removed or something, false advertisement and listing can screw a company over why not a seller on-line?
