Found this pic of an old Sears ad in an article about retro game advertisements. Notice anything odd with the screen shots? Also, check out those prices! I pity the fool that paid $34.89 for Robowarriors. LOL

$40.00 for Blades of Steel?! I'm glad I bought mine from a flea market back then.

I think this ad setup (sans the Sears related items) was used before, errors and all. I think I saw it in a comic book or a magazine.

Wow, $40 for a new game. I couldn't remember how much I paid for games back then.

$40?, phsaw!

I remember Phantasy Star and Golden Axe for the Sega Master System being $90+ at Wool-Co in 1990, and most other SMS titles at around $50-$60.
The only cheap SMS titles were the card games, which were about $40

By The Way...
Since when does Link wield a whip, and why is Simon trying to save Zelda?
And that sure doesn't look like Super Mario Bros II...

I think the funniest part is the way Bowser and the Koopa Troopas look. Hilarious. he looks like a Rhino

And Koopa looks like chickens with turtle shells.

I remember some of the games being a bit cheaper. It was probably a week or so after I got the NES deck for Christmas and I was addicated to Legend of Zelda. My family was over at BEST (which has been out of business for over a decade now) had a number of NES games including Zelda II for $34.99 I do remember all those games just hanging on a peg board so I guess shoplifting NES games wasn't an issue back then.

Anybody catch the extra 'Z' in Wizards and Warriors? I just love the editing work by the Sears catalog staff.

Someone must have been working on that ad while taking a wizz in the toilet. ;)
