this seemed like the best forum for what i need, so here goes.

i recently picked up a japanese copy of ace combat 3 on ebay. the seller said it had some markings and that maybe it was a review copy or something, but i brushed it off as flimflam. didn't really care either way, just wanted the game!

anyway, once i got a look at it there was some odd stuff. the discs both have "SAMPLE" written on the inside edge near the spindle hole, there's an orange "not for sale" sticker on the insert with some japanese on it, and the case and spine card both have little "no resale" emblems on them. there's also a ~1 after the slus product id, but no idea if that's important.

maybe this kind of thing is normal? i wouldn't know, as i'm not a big importer. can anyone tell me what i have on my hands here? thanks for your time, folks.

That looks like a promotional copy. I'm not sure if they're rare or not, but judging from the stamp and sticker, that's my guess. The no resale markings are normal (My Rockman games have them, for instance) and the ~1 on the product number indicates that it's two discs. (0 to 1)

ok, thanks for the help! i guess i can go to an ace combat forum and get a comparison with the "regular" version and see what the differences are.
