I'm quite likely going to be creating a specialty forum called "Project: Orphanage", where we take the concept of helping each other out with completing sets of games one more step.

The Orphanage thread has been just great for me personally, and several others of you who I've dealt with in the very least, but I think the single-thread option is difficult to navigate. The concept is great but the execution could be better.

It might be in our best interest to have separate threads for particular items, or for particular systems, or even for particular owners (ie all of my "available orphans" in one therad). Owners would have the ability to edit their posts and update when they'd like. I think this would improve the network and ultimately complete more sets among the completists here.

You say that owners could edit their lists. Would we use the PM system and not allow for people replying to their listing? Like, each person has the ability to lock & unlock their own thread as they please?

As it stands though, I like the one thread, though it can be a killer on a 56K because it's so big.

I think if you separated it between each different system though, it might get a little too big. Each owner having their own thread for all their stuff would be easiest--one stop shopping you know?

Sounds like a great idea Joe, go for it with Achika's one-stop shopping suggestion!

While your at it, bring back the 2D fighting and shooting forums, and combine them as one.

When you're ready to rotate the Forum du Jour I'll do that immediately.

@Achika: about locking topics, that's unfortunately only a moderator option, but I can set it up so you can DELETE your thread - so if you had an orphan that's now sold or traded you could delete the topic entirely.

:) cool idea joe 8-) What about the possibility of regionalized areas of the site also. i.e. - like a NE gamers section, a NY/NJ gamers section

Go for it. Hopefully it'll spark me to get off my duff and create my orphan list, which is extremely massive on both ends.

I think we should maybe move to have everyone's list on their own webspace. Would keep board slowness down, and allow for better editing. *shrug*

It won't slow anything down as long as we keep each owner in his own thread (I'd rather have more subdivision, lik all Genesis boxes of mine in one thread, for example, but we can explore that later). The only time the whole BOARD slows down is when there's a massive single thread of 25 posts and multiple visitors are grabbing similarly massive files (or that same post).

OK good enough! I'm opening the forum in a few moments. I'll have a WANTED and a FOR TRADE thread out there if you want to get an idea of the concept behind each seller having their own threads. Also you'll be able to edit and delete your own posts in that forum.

Go to it!

I'm in favor of anything that can identify if people are even looking at your stuff. Right now, it's all in one list, and you can't tell if anyone is checking out your list.

I haven't really had any response thus far since posting my trade list, so I haven't even bothered with the orphan list (which is much bigger, and will take a lot longer to do.)

So, if it will help to get people to read it, I'm in favor of whatever works.
