Sure i do have a wishlist of games i want but i know there are holes in my nes/snes/genesis collection and there is stuff i want for the Scd/n64/ps1/ps2/GC
Any reccomodations of what games i should be going after

I don't think I understand how you are at a "collecting crossroads". You say that you want to fill holes in certain collections, but you also want to buy games for other collections. Isn't that the same way that we all collect? Why are you being so exculsionary? Why do you have to decide whether to buy games for this system or that one? Buy the games that you want as you find them.
And since you are asking for advice, may i suggest a blog?

I'd go with that as well, there's no point in aimlessly collecting games you may never play (or want) stick to what you like primarly.
But maybe try picking up the odd game you might not normally play and give it a try, i wasn't always into racing titles, more just FPS and RPG's but i'm normally playing racers, just as much as any other now! :D
