I forgot to post my Target story last night because I was too tired. But anyway....

I bought a copy of Chromehounds in the electronics department, since you had to pay for the game in that department, I got that out of the way first. I put the bag with the game in my cart.

I did the rest of my shopping, and went to pay for my other stuff. I get to my car and realize my copy of CH is missing... I went back in and asked the guy who checked me out if I had left my game there.

It wasn't... He called a manager. The manager comes, I explain my story. He goes to the back office for a few minutes.... He comes back out with a printout of the survallience video. The lady who was in line behind me swiped it out of my cart!! By the time we discovered it, she was long gone.

Long story short - with absolutely no hassle whatsoever they gave me another copy of the game. He just handed me another copy and said "There you go! Have a nice evening!"

After this event - I cannot heap enough praise on Target and their chain of stores.

That's pretty cool. I'm kinda suprised they went to the surveilance footage though. Is that standard practice for something like this? Just saying because I'm assuming that you weren't standing in the same place in the store the whole time, so it probably wasn't that easy for the guy to do.

I agree though, kudos to Target.

I'm sure it's not store policy. I think he did it just to make sure I was actually telling the truth. But the picture he brought me showed the woman (it was an old woman, I kid you not!) actually taking the bag from my cart.

She didn't even bother to look at what she was stealing. I guarantee shes probably sitting at home, right now, trying to figure out exactly what the fuck she stole. LOL

Yeah, in the world of retail, Target is pretty much at the top. A bunch of guys I worked with at the Apple retail store were former Target employees, and they all thought it was a great company.

I used to work there and they are pretty good with asset protection. My guess is they went to the cameras not because they didnt believe you, but just to trace your steps and see if you dropped it or something.

I've always enjoyed going to Target, it's always had a sense of calm that other retail stores seem to lack. You can also score great things from their clearance. I got my copy of Feel the Magic for about $6 there last year, which I thought was some crazy mistake.

Another Target shopper here. I wonder in there when I know what I want. Because the nearest store is a good 20min drive away I don't generally go to it, but there's a Super Target that'll be complete in 2 more months that's just 3 minutes up the road and I can't wait! It'll be nice to finally have a shopping center not 15-20 minutes away worth going to.

I love their staff too! They hire a lot of hot young women.

I am a huge fan of target anytime I have ever been to one

but that's the thing the nearest target that I know of is located in minot North Dakota which is around 7 hours away and a drive across the boarder which is pretty bad

I do still say that Target is a great store whenever I had been there.

I wish we had them here in canada.

As far as super stores go, yeah, I agree that Target is probably the best.

I hope they catch the old lady, and I'm glad you got a free replacement.

Holy crud that's amazing! Looks like they put customers first. Glad to hear you got a copy of your game back. Lucks on your side.

If Target didn't give you another copy of the game would you have made a post titled, "Why Target Sucks"?

That being said, I'd still shop at Target any day over Walmart or Kmart.

Yes, I probably would have. But Target has always been good to me. I've just never had a problem of this calibur, come up before.

They were great. And very polite.

In the future, do all of your other shopping first. You can do 100% of your check out at electroincs, or if you need prescriptions you can do it all in Pharmacy too. You can lessen your chance of this happening again by cutting the number of checkouts you make.

If you have a cart full of shit, don't. Not only will it aggravate the person in electronics, it'll likely piss off the other people who need to pay for their games/cameras/whatever at electronics.

That is really cool. Target is one of the few retail chains which I don't have any type of "dread" going to. "Dread" in the sense that I expect to be annoyed by something.

Senses of dread examples:

The anticipation that I will be asked if I have any trade-ins when I walk into a Gamestop, despite being empty handed.

Finding a parking spot at Wal-mart.

Finding anything at Home Depot or being able to find a person who can help me find something.

Best Buy trying to sell me an extended warranty on anything.

Any store that asks me for my phone number as if it's the most natural thing in the world for me to give it to them. (Toys R Us, Best Buy, formerly Radio Shack)

Comp USA because I know I'm paying way too much for whatever I buy there.

Cicuit City: they're actually okay.

Fry's: too damn big. I dread the amount of exercise I get walking around in one of these.

Supermarket: when there are only two cashiers, I'm buying 5 things and everyone else is buying a month's worth of food and they're all in front of me.

Wow. I really hate shopping, or maybe I just hate interacting with human beings on the opposite side of the retail setting.

Well then I'll ammend this to apply only at the Washington Pa store. If it's not 2 months before xmas, electronics is usually fairly slow (except DVDs that nearly everyone takes to the front checkout anyway) and the cashiers are more than cool about checking things out. My wife and I sometimes check out there even when we dont buy from that department to get out quicker. Of course we're former employees and we still know people, so it may just be they dont mind doing things specifically in our case.

I totally see what you're getting @. I avoid retail shopping if I can and order stuff online most of the time.

Amazon.com + Amazon Prime = sex. Do it, people. That $80 is worth it for tax and hassle free shopping.

Amazon for the win.

I thought Target was a good shopping experience because of the sheer volume of employees, they usually manage to have a hot chick working on virtually all shifts...

You forgot to mention the "K-Mart smell". Seriously, all K-Marts (and all Ames, for that matter) have this odd stench to them.

Target is great. Target and Fry's are the only two retail chains I really like -- good products, great prices. Circuit City's OK, too -- but I didn't like that crap they pulled a few years back with firing all their commisioned salespeople and using only hourly types.

The only thing better than Target is Super Target. 24hrs + groceries + cool shit = damn fine store. Even their non-name clothes are well made and reasonably priced.

Speaking of smell, every Target I've been in has always smelled the same - and it's a smell that, as far as I can tell, is unique to Target stores. It's interesting, because it's not a bad smell at all - and in a very roundabout way, another reason that I shop at Target. It's never like "Target smells nice, so let's go there." It's more of a thing that's always in the back of my mind that makes my shopping experience at Target a nice one.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Damn, that's an awesome story. I hope they caught that old lady too. If they have her on video, they should be able to, even if they didn't catch her that same day. Would it be legal for them to arrest her the next time she comes in?

There are a few 24 hour Targets around here, just don't expect help when the Ohio State Buckeyes are playing, all the employees are in electronics swearing at the screen

I know exactly what you're talking about. I was gonna mention the Target smell when people mentioned the Kmart smell.

It's so odd (well not that odd, it's understandable) that it's replicated throughout every Target I've been to. Hard to explain said smell.

Some chain stores have this certain smell and it's the same exact smell in each of their stores. Wizardy at work.

It also rules because there is actual order there and not some mad house like Wal Mart.
